9 Year old girl killed white water rafting

OMG, 9 years old:(. They don't know the meaning of danger at that age. Sympathy to the parents.

My son, a man in his 30s and a strong swimmer did the white water rafting last year. Even he admitted it was strenuous and a real adrenalin kick. Obviously the poor parents weren't warned sufficiently on the dangerous of this trip

A few years ago a dive instructor told me she had fallen out of the raft and was pinned to the rocks, amazed at how strong the current was.  Each day can be different depending on rainfall.  One day the river could go from giving a good fun ride to being downright dangerous, depending on what weather has been going on up the mountains.

It is a tragic story and the parents must be devasted. But it's not rocket science to work out that white water rafting is dangerous. That's why it's listed as a such on insurance policies. It's cerainly not an activity for an nine year old in my opinion. In fact I'm surpsried that companies are allowed to take children that young on such trips

I've just looked on a UK website which quotes the following:  

Paintballing and Archery are available from the age of 12 upwards.

Quad Biking is available from the age of 6 upwards.    
All other activities are available from the age of 8 upwards.

The minimum age may vary in exceptional river conditions.

Presumably, other activities include white water rafting

This is so tragic, how could the owner say that it was children fidgeting that made the craft capsize, shame on him for having no compassion at a time like this for the family. He would have been better saying nothing at all than blame children.
Hope this is investigated regarding safety procedures etc.
My sympathy lies with the Family and others who were on the craft

I have only just seen your discussion I have heard nothing about this tagic accident over in blighty.  Our sympathies go to the family & friends of the little girl.  It makes you appreciate what you have but sometimes it is too late!
