Title: The Istanbul Worthing,West sussex
Post by: pashka on February 09, 2007, 22:22:27 PM
Sunny day, one or two Efes, sea view, good Turkish food and a waiter from Fethiye. Does that sound familiar? The Istanbul served as a good substitute for Calis. Give it a try if you are in that neck of the woods.

We used to have a caravan at Littlehampton and were only there at weekends, was always open weekend lunchtimes. Definitely worth a visit.
There is the Silk Road in Arcade Street Littlehampton. Never tried it,but menu looked good.

I live in Worthing and we use the Istanbul quite often, taking friends there to introduce them to the delights of Turkish cuisine. We have never had a poor meal, highly recommended

Where in Worthing is this restaurant? My Dad lives in Hove and this could be a place to visit next time I see him (Although not sure how far this is from Hove to be honest :) :) :)

Many thanks

Istanbul, Worthing is on the seafront. Worthing isn't too far from Hove, (20 mins by car )but as your Dad is in Hove you might as well go to the Istanbul Barbeque on the Western Road near Waitrose. It looks as if its just a kebab shop from front but at the back is a small cafe area, the food is superb, authentic and very reasonable. Most of the customers are Turkish, so good for eavesdropping and seeing how many words you recognise. You can take your own alcohol too!

Silk Road in Littlehampton is excellent, very cheap mid week special, 2 courses and a bottle of wine £25 for 2 people. Not so authentic, as Tukish/Mediterranean, and more of a Brit clientele.
