Title: mobile phone unlocking
Post by: colmoor on August 21, 2007, 11:01:23 AM
hi brian here recently moved here from the uk. My business back in the uk was amongst othere things UNLOCK&ING MOB&ILE PHONES. i have brought my equipment with me. So if there are any recently arrived ex pats who have brought there old uk pay-as you-go or maybe contract phone with and would like to have it unlocked for use on turkcell then give me a call or send me an e-mail.

my e-mail. colmoor@hotmail.co.uk
phone number is 0539 476 4790.
im based at tloss but travel into fethiye most wednesdays or fridays.
i can at present unlock most sony ericcsons. LG 3g phones. Samsungs and soon most nokia 3g phones such as the N series and the 6630 etc.
&I DONT UNBLOCK PHONES (TOTALLY ILLEGAL) AS &IN THE UK.
REMEMBER ONCE UNLOCKED THEY NEED TO BE REG&ISTERED ON THE TURKCELL NETWORK. will do that for you as well.

Now for price well the shops charge 10-15 pounds back in the uk so
my price 30 lira.
get in touch and i will let you know wether i can unlock your phone

It is now possible to register your English phone in Fethiye. Call at the Turkcell Shop a little way past HSBC on the left hand side of top road out of Fethiye  It is called Koyuncuoglu Iletisim. (I don't think the other Turkcell shops will do it).You will need your passport and I was asked for my residency visa but I am not certain if that is mandatory as the guy just  looked at it and gave it back.....they take a photocopy of your passport. You do NOT need invoices or customs receipts etc.
I had a spare uk phone done this morning, cost 22YTL which included a new Turkish Sim card and 100 Konturs. :)

I don't need a new sim or kontors, just a damn LG 3300c phone unlocked, when the phones first needed to be registered I did register the phone, but far too trusting did not get a receipt and now the phone is blocked, rip off merchants!

I asked Colmoor a question before, the answer was no, but now this one, can the Lg be unlocked?

Unfdortunately this phone model can only be unlocked via remotely. there are noboxes able to unlock it. i use fonfunshop.co.uk they do it via an email.if you go onto theirwebsite and look on the left hand side menu (unlock yourphone) then look for the LG section and your phone is listed. its then a case of seeing which network it is presently locked to and then clicking on and they will give you a price. they are very reliable. they are the major supplier of unlock hardware for the trade in the UK. hope this helps.sorry i cant do it myself.

if you are intending to use it in turkey you will need a turkish sim card. i take it the contract sim you mention is a uk one. if it is will cost you a fortune for the calls as the company will charge you for the cost of any calls big time. if someone phones your uk number the uk company will charge something like 1.50 pence per minute much better to buy a turkcell sim.

The phone will still need to be registered in Turkey even with a Turkish sim card in it. Did anyone check to see if the Turcell shop is genuinely registering the English phones?

Went in yesterday to have my new mobile registered but they are having a problem with the stamp!! I am going back on Friday. Being cynical comes with age and living in England too long Brian. Not just living here. I have never been as relaxed. xx

sorry to hear that i take it they couldnt read your visa stamp.
Title: mobile phone unlocking
Post by: tribalelder on December 04, 2007, 14:29:06 PM
They did not look at my visa stamps....just took a photo copy of the mugshot page and as I mentioned did ask for the residents visa.
If it is a question of "reading" a visa stamp does Barrie have a better one in his passport?  It doesn't really matter whose name it is in once it is registered. :)

It is "their" stamp that was the problem. We have to go back Friday. If I hadn't got the phone free then I wouldn't be bothering. U know us Yorkshire folk. Anne x

Hi Brian,

I have a British Samsung SGH-E720 GPRS Tri Band Mob Phone which has had a Turkish SIM card in for a while but is now locked.  Can you unlock this model Samsung?  If so can you reply through my profile.

I feel i should add that when they unlock it they only unlock it to ONE turkish number. You cannot put another turkish sim card in - it won't work.
Bear this in mind if you don't live here and only come now and again - turkish sim cards get switched off after 3 months without top-up - so if this happens your phone will not accept a new one.
You will have to wait a full year from when you had your phone unlocked before they will do another unlocking.

Our phone was switched off and we were only 3 days over the three months. Just added credits and the old credits were reinstated as well. Now here for good so should not be a problem any more:D.

i havent got any nokia software that works at the moment. however a 6111 nokia can be unlocked. leave it with me for a few days and i will make some enquiries with one of my contacts in fethiye and i will find out first how much it will cost to unlock and how much a turkish 6111 will cost.  As a thought have you taken yur phone into the turkcell office in fethiye and see if they can register it on their network for you. any problems or further questions please either e-mail or phone me on 612 32 72. daytime.

Hi i have had it unlocked once in fethiye but let the battery run down or they blocked it again. The prob is it is not registered on the network. So will they just keep blocking it. I can buy a new one in the UK for 49 pounds, but will have the same prob. That's why I was thinking of buying another one in turkey.

Also I paid another 100tl to get it unblocked so it's cost 150tl so far and is still blocked. Yeah I got done.

What do you think is the best thing to do, can it be unblocked to use on turkcell. It works in the UK fine. I use it for my english sim card at the min.

Thanks

i can either supply you with a turkish phone or have either your old phone unlocked or if you bring one from the uk that unlocked . the cheapest option for you would be to have one unlocked
