The theme for the 2009 carnival which takes place on Saturday 23 May is "Turkish History". This is an exciting colourful theme which covers from Lycian times to the present day and includes such famous events and figures as the Trojan wars, Noah's Ark, Father Christmas, Ottoman Empire, Knights Templar and Knights of St. John, Alexander the Great. Cleopatra, Jason and the Argonauts etc. etc:..... the choice for floats and costumes is endless! :)
