"Almost a third of UK primary pupils think cheese is made from plants and a quarter think fish fingers come from chicken or pigs ".
Might it be considered extreme if I suggested that the parents of these children should be taken out into the street and shot through the head? Or might it be considered a just and appropriate response?

I will load the gun, Colwyn!! An extremely sad indictment of the youngsters of today. It absolutely chills me to the marrow that these kids will one day soon be running this once great nation of ours ! :o

A bullet through the head would simply ricochet round a few times I think ;)

But then again we all thought that hamburgers are made from beef...

This is what happens when parents are either too tired or lazy to cook a meal from scratch. Unfortunately, hardly any kids are given the opportunity to learn how to cook or even how to shop. Have you ever been in the supermarket and seen some of the junk food in trolleys of parents? it makes me shudder.

And after they've been shot through the head, nail their bodies to the Benefits Office and burn all their clothes.
Me, an extremist, nah! ;)

Mrs B works in what is classed as an 'inner city' school. Some of the stories she comes home with about fruit and veg that kids have never heard of I find hard to believe how sheltered some of these kids are. Some could not name common things like broccoli, Cauliflower or pineapple. These kids are 8-9 years old.

my grandson fave is broccoli loves it
PS. what is a inner city school
how do you describe a inner city school

A school in an inner city would be my best effort.
-
We have an 'inner city' farm next to our 'inner city' school so they are pretty clued up on animals and they grow their own fruit and veg. Being by the Thames, they canoe and participate in water sports in the marina, but you would be surprised how many 'inner city' school children have never been to a beach to see the sea.

In this particular case it is an infant/primary school in a poor area of town where the majority of children have a parent or parents who dont work, dont give a fig, their kids come to school un washed, hungry and in clothes that have seen better days many years earlier. A lot of the kids while happy have little aspiration as their parents are such poor role models. They know too much about drugs, alcohol and prisons for their tender age.
I am not a snob and have been round the block a bit myself but I am glad I was fortunate that my kids did not have to go to this type of school.
