He did if   your definition of overwhelming majority is 60 % of  0.3% of the electorate!!!!

And what percentage of the electorate elected Gordon Brown   :)

I think youve scored an own goal there Highlander!!!

When  Brown was installed as PM Johnson complained bitterly that it was undemocratic  that a PM should  be appointed solely  by a party !! One rule for old Boris eh!!!!

Still many of us both in Ireland and Scotland couldnt be happier to see Boris as UK  PM -as with him at the wheel he could quite possibly be the last!

Anything must be better than watching May shambling around Downing Street like the rotting corpse of Maggie Thatcher. Even Boris?

Or another way of looking at this morons victory is 99.8% of the electorate did not vote for him, lol

Still if his ignorance and tomfoolery helps Edinburgh and Belfast off this sinking ship who are we to complain

Go Boris!!!

Don’t get “the electorate” part of this, those entitled to vote ie Tory members turned out to the tune of 87% .So by any measure a good turn out and massive victory

Oh I forgot to ask why it would be good ,for Ireland and Scotland if he were the last U.K. pm.Both countries could not survive if they were not part of the union? This comes from a U.K. resident not a Spanish one

Just as we will not survive unless we are part of the union, in our case the European Union.

Read it and weep Stevie boy!!!

Ps When Brexit bites we will send food parcels from Ireland. Wont want Brexiteers having to eat their whippets!!!!!

Ireland is ranked 2nd among 44 countries in the Europe region, and its overall score is well above the regional and world averages. The Irish economy has registered impressive growth, but the government faces many economic policy challenges. As a small, openeconomy, it has responded effectively to global fluctuations.

I can’t believe it;  I keep thinking I’ll wake up and find it was all a bad dream.
What were people thinking?
Title: Re: New Prime minister
Post by: LindseyMitchell on July 28, 2019, 20:10:31 PM
So, if he calls an election the first week of November:
Parliament will be stood down on October 31st - no proroguing
We’ll leave without a deal by default which has been his intention all along
Why else is he spending billions to prepare for a No Deal
All his spending promises will be broken
For him and other million/billionaires, happy day, they’ll make a killing
For the rest of us, misery;  a dodgy trade deal with America, the breakup of the U.K., the return of the troubles in Ireland, higher food prices, delay in supplies of medicines, chaos at Calais and at airports, millions having to be spent to quell riots and replace the Galileo satellite, but we will have (made in France) blue passports!

Loving the leftie meltdown this week.

Hopefully it will dawn on them (eventually) that we are leaving the failing EU after three and a half years.

Gonna be a great Halloween 👻

I would remind you, Stoop, that the in the indicative votes in Parliament, 400 MPs voted against a No Deal Brexit, and 160 were for.
Were all these 400 lefties?

You’re so right, Saoirse!
People believe what they read in the Mail, the Express, the Sun and the Telegraph, all of which are owned either by foreigners (Murdoch), or non doms (the. Barclay brothers and Rothermere) who like to lecture us on patriotism even though they don’t pay a penny in British tax.  They’re terrified they may have to contribute to our economy, So smear stories appear every day.
It’s not as though the last nine years of Tory rule have been a success story for the U.K.  as we say in Yorkshire, we’re in a right tacking!

All whimps! Now Boris is in charge it will change.

Anyway if they vote against whatever deal he secures he might just call a snap election  before 31/10 and we will leave with no deal by default.

I fully expect the EU to reopen talks with him before long.

Mainly on him being a racist anti Irish/ Scot self serving Little England’s chinless wonder with absolutely no mandate in Edinburgh or Belfast

Get off your knees for god sake man- have some pride

This throwback has insulted your nation has less mandate there than China’s PM and yet the forelock touching types cheer him on

He can be PM for extremist Englanders and aGing English gammons if he wants

How can people ignore the FACT that this man lies through his teeth, in newspaper articles, to his boss, to his wife, but mostly to the British people.
How can people ignore the FACT that he has made racist, insulting remarks, not only to people of colour, but to Muslims, the Scots, the Irish and the French.
How can people ignore the FACT that he was heard to say ‘F*** business’  when they had the nerve to voice their concerns about a No Deal Brexit.

I am embarrassed that he is our PM.

For the English nation massive respect admiration and fondness. From culture music sporting heroes to the rich history and their unique humour and of course my mainly English friends in both Turkey and Spain ( even though they take the p about my horrid accent!!!)

For the North of Ireland - and roughly half of England -being dragged against its will out of the EU  to be ruled by a rump of throwback  intolerant chinless wonders with absolutely no mandate in  Belfast to do so- I have utter contempt

Sadly your ignorant rant says all we need to know about yourself and certainly I hold no such animosity against anyone

Dont be  a hater and such a gammon-Chill out.

Doris has told us all everything is going to be great and we know how truthful he is......

I certainly haven’t had a rant merely pointed out that your posts are offensive as you constantly insult those who don’t agree by referring to them as “gammon”.
By using this term it points to you being quick to judge and make assumptions about people.
However Iam not prepared to get in another debate about the current political situation as it brings out all sorts of people and views that create disharmony.
Therefore I will bow out of this now and wait to see how Boris does

Saoirse, I find your posts refreshing, they bring a touch of reality into the world of the little Englanders and 2nd empire wishers. So please don't step back, your opinions are welcome.

Cheers sir

I think my sledgehammer forthright manner can be construed by some as belligerent but I genuinely do not mean offend

This forum is a lot " more gentle " in its exchanges than other ones I post on so I will be more careful in my approach

I’ve been called a Remoaner, a libtard and a cuck, and another C word I can’t say, never mind write, and you complain about the word gammon?
My well reasoned arguments have been called ‘project fear’ despite the fact that they were evidence based;  why are millions being spent on preparations if No Deal will not affect us at all?
Title: Re: New Prime minister

I fully expect the EU to reopen talks with him before long.

In 2018, UK exports (one country) to the EU were £289 billion. Exports from European Union member states (27 countries) to the UK were £345 billion in total.

Brexiteers fully expect the group of countries who export £12.7bn each on average to us to collectively buckle on talks with a country that exports £289bn to them. 46% of everything they export as a great exporting nation.

Astonishing.

I take it this was levelled at my discussion with Saoirse, which has nowt to do with you.
Also I don’t really care what you have been called or offended by in the past, but I was offended by the term used that’s all that matters.Saoirse and I have discussed it and drawn a line under it so I would appreciate it if you wind your neck in and mind your own business

New Leader of the opposition (and I don't mean Jo Swinson)

Yes the Liberals beat the Conservatives but does the Brecon and Radnorshire by election result show that Labour need a new leader.

As a lifelong Labour supporter, I think (but more so hope) it means the end of both Labour and Conservative as the two main players in UK politics.

There is a foul feeling that these people have been enjoying things for far too long.

I think Brexit as put pressure on the two main parties,  which the people voted for,
And people can't wait whatever the outcome to get it over with.
