Title: What if the Flight Prices Soar?
Post by: Scunner on November 03, 2019, 17:42:37 PM
Genuinely interested in this poll - we are hoping to go next year but a lot depends on what prices Easyjet will release this week.  There comes a price that makes you think...

So difficult. :-\ :-\  :-\

If there was a Don't Know option I would have chosen that.

Really depends how "silly" they are - maybe via Antalya at a push but probably look elsewhere.......... and then decide to pay it anyway  ;D

Having a place there, we will have to pay it. Even getting up at the crack of dawn on Thursday, I fear we will still have to pay £500+ for us both in September the way things are going. Not happy about it at all.

Agree Chris, when we had our place there it is difficult to think of not going to it - 5am Thursday is the only chance, see you there mate...

I'm another one who will be up at silly o'clock for flights.
What with the ever rising costs of flights plus our site fees with no help from rentals now I think it's definitely time to reevaluate having our place.
Billy on the other hand won't even consider it

Agree Anne, our brilliant value for money place is being eroded away in so many ways.

Don’t forget that we now need to add £108 for a family of 4 for visas to the higher flight prices, following the recent significant hike.

We will continue to go with Turkish airlines even if we have to do long hour,s of waiting at Istanbul to get over to Dalaman, We have to go and enjoy being at our villa!!   :)

Agree Keith, I said the same when the visa increase came in a couple of weeks ago I got shot down on facebook for even suggesting it will put people off choosing to visit Turkey.
While yes I will pay it as we get more than one use out of ours, but families booking their summer holiday will consider this added expense to the cost.
As for the flight prices someone is having a serious laugh or conspiracy...as I said on another thread I can buy flights to New york through out next year from £220 direct. Other desinations are also cheaper.
we have just done our first none direct flight home (via SAW) and found it less painless than we thought it would be.

Also how come enviromentalists do not jump on the fact that people will take 2/3 flights to get the same destination if the price is so much cheaper....not good for the carbon footprint surely.
I have found flights to Istanbul via frankfurt then flights from to Istanbul to dlm yes a lot of faffing (for some) but the price is currently 1/3 of the price than choosing a UK airline. Thats a big saving for a famiy.

Those flights are already scheduled and will fly whether or not you choose to book seats.

I paid £358 return from Manchester to Dalaman with EasyJet, case and seat included. I got up at silly o'clock back in September to book flights for July / Aug next summer. Just trying to give you all some hope that on Thursday when the next batch are released you can pick up some reasonably priced flights and not paying the £500+ that they will be later in the day. It will interesting to see how prices compare to school holiday times. Good luck and hope you get your Calis / Fethiye fix for next year!!

unfortunately the school hols in the next EasyJet batch only cover  the start of Oct 2020 half term (upto 24th) the return flights will be on the next releases (which i think are released around march 2020) which means taking a chance about your return.

There are flights Manchester to dalaman available Monday 12 oct to Monday 26 October DIRECT for £2 7 6 . 50 each includes hold bag and seat reserved , our friends just booked for half term next year, quite good flights as well , I suspect this price will be cheaper than easy jet people who miss the early bird prices

For the dates we want with Easyjet, Jet2 fly the same days and are £693 return per person.I know how much I am prepared to pay, and it is miles less than that.

Actually on checking Jet2 holidays they are offering the same dates but including accommodation/transfers/breakfast at the Tugay hotel in Calis for £26 LESS than just the return flights :o

Interestingly we are looking to book for Portugal for next Sept. This year we paid £130 each from Liverpool with EJ, with seats and luggage. I don't expect to get them any cheaper on Thursday but I will try.

However Jimbo has seen flights with BA from Gatwick for them at £105 each including luggage and seat choice within 48 hrs of the flight. It just shows that flying from the south is much cheaper - probably due to the competition.

The flights we booked from Liverpool for next May at a cost of £418 for the two of us - including hold luggage and seats are now over £450 EACH!

It's cheaper for the both of us to fly with Emirates to Thailand!

Turkey will suffer next year unless things change.

stoop thats exactly what I have been saying, there are plenty of other desinations Europe or worldwide that are sooo much cheaper.
I know we all want our calis fix, I do too, but I hope that people do refuse to book at these prices and sit tight forcing them to drop them.
If the cost were genuine for the airline to operate flights to Turkey then fair dos, and in these uncertain times we expect prices to rise but 200/300% rise is not justified.

As has been said before, its all about supply & demand.  I remember having to pay £350 to fly from Manchester to Aberdeen in the "oil boom" days.

Once the industry gets over the TC collapse and starts taking up the slack Im sure prices will drop again.

Quiz time:

Just out of interest I went on a holiday website to check the price of a two week hotel holiday in Calis in September.

Flight shown was with Tui with an option to change.

What was the difference (plus or minus), per person, if you changed to fly with Jet2 ?
