Christygee - did you get anywhere with this post?

As Gill and I got married (in Turkey) a couple of years ago it would make sense for us to change her old name to her new surname - but not if it is going to cost me more than 100 YTL :)

Cheers - I'm a realist - she always tells me she would never ever go to Turkey without me - so if she bumps me off - she will get her wish :D

Seriously I think will cost a bit! I understand you basically have to 'sell' the property again and as such would incur the normal costs of a tapu.

From what I remember there were a couple of posts re: tapu name changing but it was under 'wills' etc.  Pretty sure it did cost quite a bit (500tl?) because there's notary, translation etc.

As Stoop says, it's just like buying again so you have to pay the 3% purchase tax plus the other usual expenses!!

I'm not sure that is correct - if for example you divorce and want a name taken off the tapu you do need to treat it as a sale (with the vendors being the two of you and the purchaser being one of you) and the property purchase tax is payable again as if it were a new sale. I think for a surname change it can be done for a far smaller administration fee. I'll check and get back  :)
