Istanbul trip
« on: October 27, 2011, 14:34:04 PM »
I just got back from my 5 day trip to Istanbul and I want to thank all the Calis Beach members who replied to my request for hints, tips and advice regarding where to go and what to do to make the most of my trip. I had the time of my life. I crammed so much into my days and took a strole along the bars in the evenings. I am so delighted I went but now I want to go back. This trip was awsome x Thank you  :)

That's not fair - we go on March 12th for 6 nights - staying in Sultanahmet - and I wanted to pinch a unique (that means cheap to me) experience to impress Gill :D :D

No contest for me I loved the Topkapi Palace and could have spent a long, long, time in the rooms with all the fabulous jewels.  I really want to go back there.

We stayed at the Mina Hotel which was really lovely. Ian it's expensive but worth it. I was astounded at the price of a pint of Efes being 9 Lira but I just thought Ah well it's Istanbul. I know you and your partner will be impressed. We were very lucky with the weather, it was mild Have a great time x

Ian,

Unique, cheap, impressive. It's got to be the balcony of the Galata Tower at prayer time.

You are the 2nd person to say that and the first one knew I was a cheapskate as well :D

I actually bought a book called The Bridge all about the Galata Bridge and it was really interesting so I was planning on getting to know the bridge better so I will definitely do the Tower now - many thanks :D
