Turkey in Manchester

I'm not sure that this is the correct place to post this thread but here goes anyway! ;)Kirsty and I went to Manchester today for a little retail therapy and decided to have lunch at the Istanbul Cafe just off Deansgate. It was brilliant, the cooks were all Turkish and there were several Turks eating there also which is always a good sign! We had a plate of mixed mezes to start with then Kirsty had lamb shank (superb) and I had chicken breast stuffed with spinach and feta, to wash it down we had a bottle of Doluca. Definately to be recommended. We then left and waddled off to the station to get the train home!!:D

We'll be in Manchester next Thursday night for our flight to Dalaman on the Friday.  Depending on what time I finally get out of the pub and if we can find it, we may well give it a try Val.

Sounds good, I've lived in Manchester for years and never new it was there.

I will give it a try next time we are out.

In the meantime I will have to make do with the real thing as we fly to Dalaman Friday morning.:D:D

Thanks for this will try out Istanbul Cafe when I next go shopping in Manchester, Nantwich is lacking a Turkish food establishment and I get withdrawal symptoms.  Have resorted to making my own Ayran.

Hi Diana - I think we live in the same area - we live in Loggerheads about 15 miles from Nantwich.  It would be great if there was a Turkish restaurant in the area, but will certainly try the one in Manchester next time we are there.   Ginny

We live in Bolton which is quite near to Manchester and are lucky as there is quite a large Turkish community here. We have a Turkish grocery shop and used to have a Turkish restaurant but unfortunately it has recently closed. Anyway have you tried the Turkish grocery shop in Manchester - Venus Foods. They sell everything you need and are excellent.
