« on: April 14, 2013, 20:22:46 PM »
Please can anyone tell me where gunlukbasi is and whats there.

Would it be suitable as a permanent home, would you need a car or  is there good transport links.

Is it closer to fethiye than calis

Thanks Bernie

It's between the two. I am biased on the area as we have a place in that general region but for us it it is the right mix of tourists, ex pats and local Turkish people. The new promenade is just a few minutes walk away and the Dolmus for many places, including Fethiye and Calis is close by.

There are 2 large supermarkets nearby, Tansas and Kipa and you don't need a car as you can get a taxi for the 'big shop'. With the promenade it feels like there is growing investment in the area.

Hope this helps

Cenk sold us ours so that's a good start.

Liz101, on this forum lives on our complex all year, as do many others. Hopefully she will see this mail and reply but if not then contact her through her profile

By the way...it's not unusual on estate agents site for it to be classed as either Calis or Fethiye rather than Gunlukbasi so if in doubt, ask

Fairly big area, location gets a bit confusing as most areas seem to merge into each other,  main street is the one leading to the main bus station (Otogar)
Very good transport wise, there is one Çaliş dolmus route goes through here - plus many of the out of town ones also pass by.

Both places are actually part of Fethiye not seperate towns, but time wise for going to the centre can be similar, depending on where exactly you are.

There are no big supermarkets, but plenty smaller ones, and probably every type of shop you would ever need, not many restaurants but plenty of smaller locanta type ones.

Maybe you should list what your needs/wants/dreams are to see if that gets you some more ideas, we took near 10 years to find our first place - OK we were never in a hurry, and 2 years to find our present one.

We are here by the way. As Jim says the regions blur a little and we are probably nearer Fethiye than Jims location

We are using all the info we have received jim. Now we have an idea what we want, what our budget is now we have decided to buy. We are getting our bearings sorted. After hearing the costs of what could go wrong we have lowered our expectations somewhat.

Hopefully, our planning will pay off.  what is your oppinion of Gunlukbasi, as a place to retire to

Yes Steve if you are near 778 Sk Then thats Babataşı - not far from us.

Slikmrs - after all our searching that was our choice - as Steve wrote good mixture etc - also 3 seperate dolmuş routes within a few mins.
