paperwork needed to bring goods into Turkey
« on: April 19, 2013, 12:02:51 PM »
Hi

We are moving to Turkey end of April and will apply for residency straight away.
We want to bring some items ie ornaments photo albums clothes and personal effects by air
The couriers have advised we will need certain paperwork.

Can anyone tell us what will be needed ie Tapu etc and what sort of problems there might be in this

Thanks

Cath & Bruce

It might be easier and cheaper to just bring an extra suitcase and pay the excess baggage costs.
We came with 3 bulging suitcases, a holdall and a laptop case.

we are planning a move for next year, and explored getting a van and driving, but have had a complete turnaround, and are going to bring everything we want as excess baggage, with as many cases as it needs, and whatever it costs will still be cheaper than the original idea.

You can provide your own paperwork in the form of a manifest if you want.

Number each item (like you would auction lots), put a very brief description, and a value. The description only needs to be very vague and the value can be nominal. Produce a couple of photocopies and you're sorted. The chances of any official wanting to see it are pretty slim, but at least you'll have it if needed.

When we came back from Doha we had 5 big suitcases, each one around 30 kg, plus a dog and cage.

Picked it up at Dalaman. Was not stoppedat the gate.

Less than half the price of shipping and no hastle at all.

Make sure your transport is ready for a lot of luggage.
