Yes, I asked that specific question and she said that it was covered. She said that the FCO advice was only advisory and as they hadn’t banned travel to Turkey it was fine to go. If in doubt I would phone who ever covers you to check.

So, if you come to Turkey, then test positive for Covid, they're going to pay ALL your expenses for having to stay-over, including paying for an alternative flight ?

I never asked that question maybe I should have, but she did say we were covered, if we caught it.

Fran - Thank you so much for pointing out that Staysure will still cover if travelling against FCO advice (excluding Covid cover).
Our annual policy will not cover any eventuality if travelling against FCO advice, so we have just taken a single trip policy with Staysure and added their "Europe extension".  At least we will be covered for everything except Covid.
Many thanks for pointing that out as I doubt we would have found it otherwise, and now we can still go as planned.
Most grateful.  :)

So if you get covid while in Turkey you are not covered for medical insurance.
Bit risky in my opinion.

The Government will pay full medical expense if you catch Covid in Turkey but not after expenses.

After the Foreign Office advice on "essential travel" restriction I, like Fran, spoke to Natwest and was assured that my travel insurance covered me if I caught the virus whilst in Turkey.  However, my daughter and son in law who were due to travel with me, checked with their bank insurance (Halifax), and were told that if they travelled to Turkey, their insurance would not provide cover.

We therefore decided to switch our holiday from Calis to Corfu and with the help of EasyJet we managed to arrange the change at short notice with no further expense.

Both Oykun hotel and Fethiye Airport Transfers accepted cancellation without question and didn't ask for cancellation charges.

We are so disappointed at the enforced change but we look forward to May next year when we have booked two weeks at Oykun and one week at Jiva Beach (restrictions permitting).   :(  :(
