Does anyone make traditional pork pies using hot water crust pastry the recipe i have for the pastry says 1/2 strong flour and 1/2 ord
can you get strong over here .?[^]

Be carefull, they tast very nice but are a bit heavy on the fenel. I hate fenel.

You should ask Bulent to display this as we had to chuck 3/4 away

You can use Pizza Flour if you need Strong Flour. I've made pork pies in the past using just Plain Flour and lard. They turned out just fine.

Well i'm pleased i didn't rush down last night ,i would say not bad pie but colour texture taste i would say minced beef pie better hot than cold ,must be made by the same welsh firm that tries to make the pork sausages and the black pudding they need closing down they obviously make for the overseas market, they would be out of business if they were making for the u.k. market.[^]:-\

Shame nice pastry if they were called minced beef pie it would be better ,i didn't taste any fennel in my one .

I think someone is telling porky pies saying they are English i think now after dissecting my other one they are wild boar hence the dark colour slightly stronger taste than pork :D ;)
