Old Fashioned Bread Pudding

To use up bread which is not fresh8 oz of stale bread and crusts  3oz of currants or sultanas3 oz of margarine or butter     2oz of sugarhalf teaspoon of mixed spice    1 tablspoon of milk.  Soak bread in cold water for at least 30minutes.Squeeze out all the water.Add dry ingredients and then the melted fat,egg and milk. Mix well. Put in greased pie dish and bake for about 1 hour. 200 degrees celsius or if a fan oven 180 degrees celsius.

if you dont have stale bread most bakers have day old bread at half price.  I also soak mine in Milk, dont know why me nan always did.

Try adding some mixed peel, it really boosts the flavour.   ;)
