Title: Darn ADSL!!!
Post by: loz on July 28, 2007, 13:07:44 PM: Is anyone else having problems with the ADSL connection over the last 24hours?

I continue to have the connection light dropped warning, I then get the phone just get through to ADSL the recorded message clicks in press 1 etc.. then the damn lights come back on!

I have got the patience of a saint but in this heat it is wearing it very thin!

thanks Mavisism good to know I am not alone. do you wait for yours to come back online or have you tried dialing, I thought at first it could be our phone line.

Tinx i went to Azda the other day no pants but did get a jar of pickled Ginger... yummy...:D

Us Mountain Folk don't do pants. I have the occasional bout of heavy breathing though !

Switching the modem off then back on seems to help when it goes completely dead. :(

Post by: tribalelder on July 28, 2007, 18:00:25 PM: It could possibly be a voltage drop that is causing the problem. If it is, it can be cured by fitting a continuous power supply unit. A tell tale sign is a slight flicker of the lights but not enough to close your system down. :)

Good tip Brian, anyone using computers here should also be using a ups,they will save your system eventually, and are very cheap.

Strangely perhaps, not at all during the last 24 hours but the 48 hours before that were mostly dead. We went to pay the bill, even though we thought it wasn't due and were told "Calis Centrum problem" [:o]

Came home from Telekom, all back on. Went out for the afternoon, gone again on our return all evening and early next morning.

It's easy really. TTNet broadband - always available when you are out.

Post by: smudge on July 28, 2007, 19:50:45 PM: I agree too, but it might stop your computer going bang if you get a power surge, it will stop your hard drive crashing if the power goes off while the drive is being written to, and with my laptop I can stay online during a power cut.

Post by: mavisim on July 28, 2007, 22:35:29 PM: Yeah - my router never comes back online after a switch off - I have to disconnect it for a couple of hours before it will work again, god knows why?
