registering new english mobile phone
« on: November 01, 2006, 11:47:56 AM »
My daughter went to England two months ago and foolishly bought an all singing all dancing mobile phone there.Guess what.... it was cut off after being back here a couple of weeks. She has been to passport police and done everything they asked her to do,including paying 150 ytl to be switched back on,however this has not happened. Its a month now since she registered the bloody thing at the Avia shop and despite several phone calls and visits nothing has happened.Any suggestions ???

Apparently there is a massive backlog in dealing with the paperwork and times like three months to clear have been mentioned.  The truth is I don't think anyone really knows.  The whole thing it seems was badly planned and executed and the goalposts keep moving.:(

It would seem logical to not lock any more until they get back on track.[?][?]:(

I really think that its not worth having a UK mobile in Turkey and intend buying a cheap basic phone next time we are in Fethiye.
