This may sound a stupid question but have you actually got a Turkish phone line[?]Most new builds have a phone socket but are not actually connected to Turk Telecom. :)

Yes we've got landline connection and ADSL. The turkish phone (purchased here) works OK but our UK won't work?

You say it's hands-free - does it have a battery that might be dead ?

Unfortunately,UK phones are not compatable with Turkish telephone system. We have 4 cables running to our phones whereas Turkish system has only 3.

How did you connect your phone as the UK plug is not compatible with the Turkish 3 Pin socket?  Did you use an adapter or did you rewire, If the latter how did you accommodate the difference in the numbers of wires used? :)

WW. Are you sure about the number of wires on a Turkish phone[?]  It is certainly a three pin plug but my phones are only connected to the two shorter pins....the longer pin is just blank. :)

Tribalelder. You could be right. I have not dismantled the connection. Its just that I bought a very good phone from UK when I first arrived here and I remember my electrician telling me that my phone had too many wires!!!!

We brought our UK phones with us and they work fine.
Only two wires used here, different adapters available, ie three pin to euro.
A lot of UK phones accept a Euro plug so you can buy a new lead, failing that cut the old plug off and wire to new plug, thats what I did.
