Ask where you get the sim card about registering the phone.  I have a friend who got his phone unlocked and bought a sim card.  But he hadn't registered the phone and 'they' know and can stop the sim working.  Someone correct me if I am wrong, but you used to have to do it at the airport, but I think you can now do it in the shops where you get the sim cards.

Rindaloo yes we had registered the phone (or thought we had) trusted the shop but did not get the receipt with the secret reg no:  the only way to go is to have the phone cloned (highly illegal!!! but would be to our own phone.) but I cant find anyone in Turkey to clone the phones.

With phones now coming down in price, last week in Tansas a Nokia was only 79TL (plus the cost of a new sim card if needed) it is harly worth the trouble bothering with the UK phone.

Trouble is, I like my phone and it has a pretty good camera in it.  Oh, I will think about it and make my decision when we get there next time.
