Mobile charges
« on: December 27, 2004, 19:22:43 PM »
I have just called my Son on his mobile (27th Dec.04 19:00hrs GMT) who has a Turkish sim card to find that I used £4:00 in one minute!! I used all the info and numbers as showen on the info provided re: 10p and 15p calls. Any suggestions as to what I could be doing wrong. I have an Orange phone and the sim card of my Son's is a Turkish pay as you go.
Hope one of you young brains can help
Regards John C

I've found in the past that Orange are one of the most expensive service providers for airtime to Turkish mobiles. But, UK mobile to Turkish mobile prices are fairly expensive anyway.

Try arranging to call at a specific time and use landlines.

Agree with Legless - landline to or from a Turkish mobile is very cheap.

I usually use a Virgin simcard 48p per min. seems to be one of the cheapest. Alan

If your son is on Digiturk he can phone the UK for just 4 units a minute. I think that works out around 16p a minute.
All Digiturk prices seemed to have dropped steeply (by half) when we were last out in September.
Our phone was last topped up in October when our friends were out there - anyone tell us how long this will last. Is it just 3 months? Our friends topped up with a larger card than we usually buy - does this make any difference or do we just lose the lot? Also how long will our telephone number remain?

Hi Linda, I leave my Turkcell simcards with a friend, cos they have to be topped up every 3mths or you lose it, it works out you get 100 units for about £4, but if you put £8 on it you get 250 units & if you can chat like my girlfriend  you need about 1000 units to warm up, lol.Alan
