Shanghai Blues, Hisaronu
« on: April 21, 2016, 12:40:41 PM »
Was really looking forward to this. Always have the same.....crispy beef salad, spring rolls, followed by sweet & sour beef. set menu @ £8.
Crispy beef salad a bit on the skimpy side, and not as sweet as usual. Spring rolls were good. Waited nearly 1 hour for main....not impressive. My main looked like a dogs dinner, and to be honest was not nice. The sweet and sour sauce tasted burned. To cap it all, I don't like food being served on chipped and cracked dishes.
Was really disappointed, and when the bill came my £8 set menu cost 40TL. The rate on that day was 3.97 to £.
Sorry to say, but don't think i will be visiting there again, great pity because it used to be good food.

Yes it has fallen down of late on quality, some of the dishes are tasteless and the prices over the last couple of years have had steep hikes.

Des I've never tried the Calis 'branch', but going by yours and others reports last year or so, I think I made the right decision.  It's a shame about the Hisaranu branch as the food was good, well during the winter months it was, and the prices were fair.
