Many people have never heard of Sarnic in Kaya - it's a real hidden gem just up the road. Located in a traditional stone building overlooked by the ghost village and filled history it's somewhere truly unique for you to visit for a fabulous meal. If you time things right there are some very cultural live music nights as well as special events such as art exhibitions.
Live Music:
Mondays: mixture of greek and turkish
Wednesdays: Turkish ballads, classical & mistic
Fridays: mediterranean music with spanish flamenco.
Some photos, which I hope will give you a slight taste of the place (but really you do have to go):

The food is like the music - absolutely traditional and varied. I enjoy the way people describe their restaurants in Turkey ("the best food for 60 miles" etc) and the description I saw for Sarnic was "It's a kind of magic".
I absolutely promise you, it is.
-
Looks and sounds wounderfull.
I want to go there now.
-
Some general info as supplied by the owners...
To make a reservation you can call:
0252 618 0153 - 0554 834 1058 - 0533 139 8898
Pick ups and returns are also offered at just 10 TL each way for dining guests - not each, for the collection, 2 people or 10, it's still just 10 TL from/to Calis/Fethiye. Free for Ovacik/Hisaronu
-
This sounds fabulous! Great photos too.
-
It looks brilliant. What are the prices like Keith. There are some gems in Kaya.Nice pic's too.
-
For those that don't know where it is:- Come into Kaya on the road from Hiroshima. Go past the Levissi and the main entrance to the Ghost Village. After about 200 yards the road narrows to single lane and there is a well on the left. Immediately after the well is a turning to the left. Take that turn and the Sarnic Restaurant is a hundred yards up that lane.
-
That looks absolutely stunning. Definitely somewhere to remember for next time. :)
-
Will they allow you to look around Kaya for a couple of hours before you eat if you promise to come back? I'd rather look around first and then relax over a meal and an Efes.
-
Been there a few times over the years. Food is lovely and the setting is superb.
-
Yes, of course they'll allow you to look around the Ghost Village. In fact, it's one of the entrances you can get into it for free. ;)

Well I hope its a new manager... we went two years ago and got attacked by a swarm of wasps in their tree ... we couldnt even eat our starters... then they moved us to a nearby table .. we continued with our main courses.. again the wasps swarmed around our plates etc at least a dozen wasps at any given time....... we looked over at the manager and he was stood there with one of the waiters smirking and smiling at our predicament.... I realised that they couldnt help the swarm of wasps spoiling our evening... but to see him and the waiter totally amused and smirking and smiling at our attempts to disperse the wasps ......well that did it for me/ us, as our` special` evening that night was totally ruined !!! We vented our feelings out on him in a polite quiet way so as not to upset other diners.... He didnt charge us for the main courses ( which as well as our starters was ruined ) he only charged us for the bottle of wine... which was consumed during all of this.... but worst of all. our evening was over early and ruined, we asked the manager to please organise our lift back straight away as we were so disappointed ( they picked us up at 7.30pm it was now 8.45pm ) he refused !! and said " you will have to wait until others are leaving later " its a ten minute car drive to our apartment... I cannot repeat on here the words I then said to him !!!! we left and got the dolmus back to Hisaronu.
ok ... a one off experience... but it wasnt so much the wasps.. it was his attitude !!! as a manager he was disgusting... we should have walked out without paying in hindsight ....shame as its a lovely setting with chilled music.. but it seemed we were his `entertainment` that night... so enjoy the sarnic .. but if the wasps return and pick on you...... well .. be warned :-)
-
It won't be the first time someone got stung in a restaurant ;)
Birol from Sun Camp is running it and wasn't two years ago so I guess that means a change in management. Birol would never laugh at someone getting hassled by wasps :(
-
It changed hands last year.
-
Playing a blinder then ?
-
I changed hands last year.
Did you indeed?
-
nice one keith ;) great news its under new management :D we will certainly return now hearing this news...and I will make sure my wife wears a different colured outfit.... could have been the colours the wasps were attracted to ? :)
-
Harlequin outfit ?
-
:)

Are children welcome? and if so, would you know if they offer a childrens menu there? I love to go anywhere that plays live traditional music, the turkish ballad/classical and mediterranean/spanish flamenco sounds lovely. Defo on my list for this July / August. I have been of a daytime, and it is truly beautiful and rustic.
-
sue mac we have been for lunch today the menu is limited which I like, the food excellent, very well presented, there is no lunchtime snack menu, but salads etc. very reasonable and there is a kids menu.
We did ring to book for last Monday but the music nights start next week, will certainly give it a try at night. before anyone asks the Efes is 8tl ;D

Thank you.
This restaurant is only one amongst many who omit information that customers might need.
Sometimes it is the actual location.
Sometimes it is the date of a special event.
-
Omit from where? It's a menu.
-
There's no helping some people is there ?
-
Seems not
-
Omit from where? It's a menu.
Omit from the web page / advert.
I am sorry that my posts have been regarded as ungrateful. It was certainly not my intention to be so.
I will neither say nor ask no more.
Goodbye.
-
All the information you say is not made available is right here in this very topic.
Another tearful goodbye.
-
This is a truly wonderful location. I loved sitting in the garden under the trees, with the old village houses around. Atmospheric. I have not been there for about 3 years but will certainly try and go back as spent a few, never to be forgotten, hours there. Dinner menu looks good, would love to hear some reviews if anyone goes.

I have experience of Claire and Birol hospitality at sands beach bar, and will make a point of saying hello, they were fantastic hosts :0)

Is this the Clair who worked in estate agency about six years ago?
-
The very same - with her Belgian husband, Inspector Poirot ;)
