Title: Air Conditioning
Post by: brijen on March 08, 2004, 14:07:59 PM
I know I've asked this question before but it was some time ago and my memory is a bit blurred[xx(][?]so here goes.

We are due to go out to furnish our villa in five weeks time.

Our agent as asked us if we want Air Conditioning fitted and he has quoted us £500 a unit through 'Dycon company'.

He says they are good quality energy saving units and four seasons ie hot air for cooler months.

We was going to wait until we went out next month and decide then, but he is saying it would be better to have them fitted now before the decorating etc is done and it will be one less thing to do when we go as we only have a week to do it in.

We are unsure what to do for the best, we didn't think they would be so expensive as anyone got any advice please?.

Jen. :)

Hi,

Don't know what everybody else has paid but £500 a unit does seem expensive. I think it really should be nearer £250-£300 a unit (these are also hot for winter, cold for summer).

See what eveyone else says.

Cheers

Check your other posts and you will find prices :D

£500.00 per unit is a tad on the expensive side, who is your agent ?

500 for a unit or for couple of units ?And what is the power of the units.
Small units for bedrooms (900 BTU) are around 250.
If you want I can give you the contact numbers of Electra so you can buy directly from the distributor.

Hello Cenk

I have been saving all the tips on places to buy goods and you did mention earlier that there can be delays in repairs when buying from a main distributor. Are this company OK if the unit goes wrong? As you say I wouldn't want to wait for a week in the heat (or cold) - I might only be there for a week.

Thanks Cenk

If he's a friend of yours that's good enough for me. We used your air-conditioning in January - or rather the heat setting.  It was freeeezing!!

How many people fit acons downstairs, as surely you will need to keep the doors closed to much?  Isn't a fan better and acons only for nightime.. ie bedrooms.  Interested in your thoughts.

I was planning on putting one downstairs so I would be interested to hear the pro's and cons. One of the reasons was also the heat setting, we used it a lot at Cenk's place in January.  The only drawback to me was that my skin became very dehydrated so I hope to have another heater as well.  That is not a girlie comment either, my lips get dry and sore and it is a problem.

Hi Teresa...

I know how you feel...  Maybe a better solution would be to have an open fire built in the lounge...  Not only do they look nice but they can produce a lot of heat...  As long as you keep a pot of water close by to put the moisture back in the room you should be fine...:D:D:D

Yes ladies, we also agree.
There are some lovely wood burners to go in the lounge and we fancy one to.
Especially as we keep visiting in the winter..LOL
But what are your thoughts on putting acons in the lounge areas pls.

I bought two Arcelick units last week. 9,000 btu cold and 11,000 btu hot. Cost 470,000 each (approx £190) and were fitted that day. 5 year guarantee on the compressor and 3 years for the rest + excellent call out service.

Guys,

Its actually pronounced Ar-cheh-lick not what you were (maybe)thinking  :-\ The C has one of those 5's under it. Oh and I did spell it wrong 'lik' not 'lick' LOL

You will see the name on Turkish billboards, TV and of course certain electrical white goods suppliers - they are well regarded by Turks (well at least the ones I know anyway).

I bought from

Kemal Akgun
Carsi Cad No 37
Fethiye

They have english speaking staff.

Take the road directly across from Gima and follow it up until you meet the 'top' road. The shop is on the corner right.

Web address for Arcelik is http://www.arcelik.com.tr/english. The site lists prices that are inclusive of fitting so its worth noting these before you go out so you can haggle!!!

Don't forget - its always worth shopping around. I tried 5 places and quotes varied with the highest at 750,000 trl for one unit!

The quote we got from our estate agent was much less than that - sounds like two units. We are getting ours fitted before we move in.

Do you mean much less than £190 per unit?

Hi Teresa

The price was max for both. We were not going to bother with a unit downstairs but after staying at Cenk's the other month we found the heat very welcome. So it looks like we might go for three units  which means the bedroom and ensuite on the top floor wont have one as it gets a good breeze from three sides - can always put one in later if need be or a small heater.

Hi Rob,

I have a four more rooms in my place to do and at those prices I'll be able to afford to do all of them this year. Who is you agent? Could you tell us the name of the company, spec of the units, service call out time, guarantee and local supplier name?

Cheers

I'll throw my two penneth in as well for what its worth.

Just got back yesterday paid £220 per unit x 2 units = £440 for 9000 btu's, make was Mikata with a three year guarantee, warm and cold air, ordered and fitted within 4 hrs. All from Gunes electrical store in Fethiye. Also fitted 7 light fittings for an extra £8.00 -  a bargain.

Would certainly recommend them.

Hiya Bekir,
we will be over in September and we will need Air Con units for the apartment we have just bought. Ours is a 2 bedroomed groundfloor apartment. We were thinking of putting a unit in each of the bedrooms and one in the living room. Do you think the 9000 BTU units will be ok for all three rooms and do they all convert to heating units for the winter?

We will be furnishing our place totally from Eren Spot so we hope you will have everything in stock:D

See you in September
