does anyone know if a Sky Free Sat box bought in UK will work in Turkey?

It will, if you have a big enough dish. As freeview is generally BBC & ITV, your box will receive these with a 3m dish (BBC1, not BBC2 or 3 etc). You can find plenty of info on this in the TV and satellite section here.
