http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2013234/Millions-sunshine-holidays-hard-times-exchange-rate-makes-Europe-expensive.html
Look at the graph of comparison costs from 2007 till 2011 and Turkey is now the 2nd highest costs rise....
-
But it appears to be complete nonsense. That doesn't make it good for Turkey of course but where do they get these figures from??!!
For example - a three course meal for two in Spain has gone up from 2007 to now, according to this. This is partly due to the poor exchange rate they say - but it's total rubbish - if you don't convert to pounds, it shows a 3 course meal for two cost 29.72 euros in 2007, today the same meal would cost 24.95 euro! Poppycock as usual...

I think it is just that- nonsense! I'm at work now(hmm) so cant check but I read the article yesterday and did the comparison and Turkey was the cheapest place despite inflation ! looking on this table its not and the thing that stuck in my mind was £2.19 for a cup of coffee which was the Greek cost not Turkish- I think the figures have been transposed!
-
I put a comment on there basically saying it was a load of tosh. the story has now been pulled :o I didn't know I had such clout:D ;)
-
Eric, one individual actually agreed with you and made specific reference to your comment.
Being a man of such clout I feel a phone call from news Internalional could be due shortly.
-
They have hacked his phone already :o

Saw an article in another paper over the weekend ( Sun or NOTW) and Turkey came out cheapest with Portugal cheapest for food and drink but dearer for other items.
Lies and damn statistics eh?

True - and it made much better reading for Turkey as well ;)

Buggers seemed to have done a runner with my Captain Cash money :(

I was shocked to see those prices! Greece is more expensive than Turkey, I'm sure the DM have put the prices up the wrong way round. That newspaper is now viewed as an adult comic; by the way, Eric, the story is still on there - did they remove it for a while?

Yes, these prices are getting ridiculous. Flythomascook had a 'sale' on in June, so I looked for flights for my daughter. Manchester - Dalaman 1 way £361 July 16th (3 seats left at this price). I obviously didn't book it. The sale ended at midnight so I checked the price the next day and it had gone down to £89. :o Their 'sales' and pricing policy are sometimes quite suspect.
