Max From Sands Beach after 1 season Back again but Changed name Have to be Turkish name any company turkish rools before I used sands on menu mean not legal since 2004 was name kocacalis and best thing to get everything legal every one wellcome

Sorry, but I did not understand this. Has the name Sands Beach Club been changed to Koca Calis Bar/Beach Club? We have a villa in Koca Calis and will be there in September.

Thanks! Will see you in late September (will you still be open?). Wish the names did not change so often, as local taxis only know the previous names and it gets confusing! Are you the beach club that has all the beanbags?

Wish we were there right now, paddling in the warm sea and reclining on the sun lounges sipping our cold drinks.

Can recommend big time! Food great. Fast service and good prices. Had a few afternoons down there and enjoyed every time.
Also a wonderful barbecue and Turkish show last Thursday.

I went there today and it was nice to see Max again and his brother. He is now offering a mangal (bbq) service where you are invited to bring your own meats, chicken or fish and they provide the mangal. There is a charge of 5tl.
You will be offered lavas bread with butter and cheese on the house and any extras such as meze and salad etc will be charged at 5tl per dish. If you are a fan of this type of dining and you don't fancy the journey and expense to and from Kaya, this offer is value for money, especially as you can shop around and supply your own meats yourself. Hopefully i look forward to doing this soon with friends

Excuse the ignorance but if we are coming from Gunlukbasi and get the dolmus to Calis and get off where the dolmuses turn round, is it feasible to walk round to this bar?

Hi Nick, the dolmuses go all the way to the surf cafe now.
Get off there and it's a couple of beaches along, next to Captains Bar.

Fuat great bloke!!!!!!!!!!! He served us Effes one year that was just turnung to slush . It was heaven. He said he would do the same the next day!!!!! When we got there and ordered a beer. Fuat explained that he had forgotten to take the beer out of the freezer!!!!!!!!! Rock Solid! Sums it up really!!!!!! Great!!!!

we recently walked along the beach past Surf club and the Jiva hotel, we walked until the end of the beach and could not find any of the places that get mentioned on here this one included, are they places on the beach as in we could not have missed them or should we have left the beach and headed up to the road? All we seemed to find was a few sort of "tired" looking places I am not being at all rude when I say this just trying to write it as we saw it, we were quite early 8.30 9ish and there seemed to be quite a few sleepy we assumed waiters some still sleeping at the few places we did find....we just wanted a coffee and a simple brekky but there was no where that looked appealing so we ended up turning round walking back and ended up at Guvens had lovely scrambled eggs on toast and decided to stay also for lunch had a lovely day there :)would be grateful for future visits to know whether we had or had not been at the correct location at Koca Calis ;)

You need to walk quite a bit past the Surf Cafe keeping to the new beach-side road. Max's place is virtually on the corner of the new block paved road that stops near the beach bars and restaurants. So - it's Jiva, Seaside, Surf Cafe and beyond.

Thanks for that Stoop, we did not see a new block paved road so me thinks we should have come up from the beach, will have another look on our next trip :)

We love this bar and all the family , Max , Fuat and Bar is are wonderful , kind and helpful people , 7 of us had a BBQ meal on the beach with starters ,drinks and desserts , also cocktails and coffee for 100 pounds . the salad breads and meats were so fresh , and everyone at the bar had a kind word and a lovely smile , we will be going back and singing this bars praise ,

Just a little disappointed re my previous post , max got in touch I sent a pm arranged pick up address and time , waited 30 minutes extra but no one showed up !

Went here and it's a lovely setting. The food we had was very good apart from they cocked up the breaking of the clay pot thing which meant we couldn't eat it as it had bits of clay in :) Th rest of the meals were very tasty and the staff we were very friendly and attentive.
I'd recommend a visit.

This was the old Sands beach club, now called Koca Calis beach club- what happened to all those leather bean bags that lined the beach, facing the water? They really characterised the place and were great to lounge on. In fact, I liked them so much that I asked one of the guys there where to buy and he gave me a lift to a place somewhere in Fethiye where a lovely woman and her daughter made some from my chosen fabric which matches other outdoor furniture.

Came back two weeks ago and they have just bought new been Bags!!!!!!!!!!!! Food is I must say realy good!!!!!!!!!!! Chicken Salad Superb!!!!!!!!

Our friends at Koca Calis, really they do everything to make your stay perfect.
Free sunbeds, shower, clean toilet and really friendly. Great prices and at evejings noce entertainment.
Perfect food. When you are on the beach you can enjoy lunch and even diner all at the same place.
Next year we will be sure we enjoy sun, sea, food, drinks and fun at Koca Calis. Don't forgetvthe famous melon cocktail. THEY ARE THE BEST!!

I know that's a bit of a glowing report but to be honest it was very good when we went in June/July. The food was excellent and Max, Fuat and the team give you a warm welcome. Only thing missing was the bean bags :)
Keep it up Max and we might come back ;-)

I think she actually got that wrong! You can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner without having to leave the place. The full English is excellent too :)
We actually saw one Turkish family spend all day there with their kids. We went home to change/shower to get ready for the Turkish night and barbecue and they were still their when we got back. They stayed for the duration. So I estimate they were there about 11/12 hours!
I guess there are many places you can do this but maybe this young lady ha not experienced one before.

An amateur effort at being put up to do a glowing report. No mention at all of the food being 'cooked to perfection' or served 'piping hot'.

Irrespective of whether she did, it is a "please write good things on CBF" post, 100% guaranteed.
It's a shame because if it was written from the heart it would be far more effective. I know how well liked our Max and his beach bars are - there's no need for this.

Yes it does. Had a lovely day there last week with the girls, we all had drinks and lunch and stayed for a few hours, and had friendly if not chaotic and slow service.
Then they tried to sting me for 6 tl for 2 Turkish Cays... Usually 1tl each everywhere else.
When I queried it he took 2 tl off, so still 2 tl each for cay.
His excuse was he has overheads to pay and only 3 months to make his money. So does everywhere else.
I doubt I will go back unless the girls want to.
Just won't be ordering any cay.

Big mistake Max.. Kayakebab is a well respected member of this forum.. A well loved worker for the charities here. She is definatley NOT a bad person or a liar.. I think you may have lost yourself lots of customers with this post.. Us for a start!!! She has lots of friends so that's more you have lost.. She is one of the kindest people we have ever met... This is not the way to deal with what was a trivial complaint... You need to change your customer service attitude...

This is the boss.... Barbara and I and Barrie and I spent every week there when we lived there and was really looking forward to a visit next week but there are other beaches down there just as good.. We will say hi to Fuat but that's it...

Max I was there when kayakebab got her bill, yes it was 6tl for 2 Turkish chi. We had all spent a lovely day at your bar, 2 of us had our husbands with us. It was so chilled out, lunch was gorgeous and a great day was had by us all. I had an English tea which I got charged 3TL for, perfectly acceptable, which is why I was surprised at the cost of Turkish chi.
I really do think you owe kayakebab an apology and then we can all move on.
We have spent many happy days at you place over the last 9yrs and hope to do so, again.

We use the Mekan Bar as sunbeds free all day, they will pick you up and take you home by mini bus, service is excellent and food as good this year as last. Loveley setting with lovely staff who never rip you off. We had probs with max the other year and wil never use his bar again. Please go to the Mekan bar and enjoy the sunset from the beach in the evening whilst having a lovely meal

I'm really quite upset about being called a liar and a bad person.
But I know the truth and I guess that's the most important thing.
Hopefully Max will now divert his strong feeling about this to his work colleague and ensure this doesn't happen to any one else.

Last 3 weaks we dont do turkish tea because special festival for us mean ramazan and turkish tea no point to make also was quayrt Iam sure me or my stuffs cant make you Turkish Tea I know deffenetly you writed there years we come your bar friend :-) friends do this even true to write here for 2 lira and I know deffenetly layer Friend trying to kill my busines stell I dont know why I dont wont any people like this here thanks loads many place around here not heven and EXPENCiVE place

Sure they will be glad of the extra trade that Kayakebab and her many friends will be giving them... You could have just said sorry!!

Right men.max. I have had enough of this now.!!! Kayakabab is my wife and she is no liar !!!! If you continue to speak about her like this I shall be going to see a solicitor and taking action against you !!! She has witnesses to the prices she has said . So being rude to her is completely Wrong.. !!!!!!!

It was 17th June when I came along. As pointed out Ramadan started on 28th June.
Why don't you ask Fuat about it? I never said you charged me 3tl for the tea. Fuat did.
I had a cay on arrival while waiting for my friends. It was only slightly warm.
The next cay I had I joked with him whether I could have a hot one.
Both were served in glasses.
Both were charged as 3tl and then crossed to to 2tl each when I queried it.
I would assume you keep your paperwork for tax man etc.
Why don't you look through all the receipts for 17 th of June and you will see it.
My husband is correct, any more of this and we will be taking action. I am keeping screen shots of what is said.
There is no way I am coming to apologise to you, I did nothing wrong and I have told no lies.
I am not a long term friend of your bar. This was just my second visit, but my friends have been coming for many years.

First of all Kayakebab, your first post on this does look like you were speaking to the owner (Max) and we have established now it wasn't him who served you it was Fuat. I think this is what Max was (unfortunately) calling you a liar for.
Second - Max I know you well and I'm sure now you realise that it was Fuat and not you who Kayakebab was served by that you will see it in you to apologise so that everybody can move on and enjoy your lovely place again.

Fuat tried to add me as a friend a few days before I visited. I didn't know him, so I didn't add him.
When I arrived at your bar I recognised him and asked if it was him, he said yes.
Stoop.... I never implied it was Max who served me.
Anyway, I declined Fuats friend request after he charged this.
I didn't show him the menu because I told him 3tl was a stupid price.
He changed it to 2 tl and I still complained it shouldn't be more than 1tl
He said he has service to pay for and 3 month season.
And each time I've written I haven't had any wine, or any other alcohol.
Anyway, your problem is with your staff, not with me.
I am not a liar, I am not bad and I haven't been drinking thank you.

Sorry, I don't shake hands with anyone who calls me a bad person and a liar.
Obviously Fuat isn't going to admit what he did, you can defend him he's your friend.
But I know the truth, my friends with me witnessed what happened and they know the truth.
I rest easy knowing I'm an honest person with better things to do than go on forums and make up stories about the cost of tea.
I won't be commenting any more, as far as I'm concerned people know me well enough to know I'm honest, and that's all that matters.

We love koca calis, Im sure next time you be their they don't charge you for tea because they dont want to fight and wanna give guests a good holiday feeling.
Everyone who reeds this, koca calis is a great place. Fuat is a great person, works hard. You can trust them!

I saw KKB's post a couple of days ago, I'm surprised that this is still raging & wasn't quietly put to bed with an apology to Linda! What was a 'storm in a tea-cup'!, a 'mistake' maybe? has by your own hand developed into a very nasty situation. Anybody reading this (regular visitor or not) will probably give your place a wide berth, fearing the hassle that ensues any negative comments made!!!
I don't for one moment believe that Linda is lying, why the hell would she bother!
Max, as you were not a witness to the 'event' you are relying on a 3rd party's account of what happened, where as Linda is the one it happened to! By blindly believing 'your brother's' version you have been calling a very respected member a liar :( I'm afraid any 'damage' done has been achieved by your own handling of the original complaint! A scenario, I think we've all witnessed happening at one time or another in Turkey :(
My advice - for what it's worth - Stop Digging..................

Not mistake I talk with the stuffs begening season every year if you not sure dont write on bill I dont mind costing CEF how you know we did mistake I can saye 1000 time and this one last one no more we didnt try to charge small tea 3 tl big laye thats it thanks loads for our guest they are coming back I dont wont any problem lıke this kind of costumers here ı know I will lost busines but no haddack like now

Been reading this over the last couple of days,cannot believe how it has escalated from a complaint about being overcharged to not so nice comments about Max and his replies.We both love this forum and understand that everyone has different opinions but both sides have put their points across. i agree with CleopatrasAsp its time to put this subject to bed
