Could Ronnie O'Sullivan not have gone for the 147 and donated the prize money to charity.
Just a thought.

Irrespective of the rights and wrongs of his decision (and his rationale for not going for the 147), why should he donate any of his wages to charity?

No reason whatsoever I suppose other than it would surely have been a better option.
In my opinion of course.

I think this adds a bit to the game,no publicity is bad as they say.Entirely his decision,he doesn't play for fun ,it's an occupation but if he wants to spice it up a bit why not.Gives someone a chance of winning a bigger sum

The annoying thing is people have bet money on him or someone getting a 147 break
-
He probably backed himself not to get one

Good news on that front Mark, according the UK press today the sponsors of the event BetVictor in this instance, will be paying out on any 147 bets

Ronnie already supports charities. Haven House Children's Hospice in Woodford Green, and St Francis Hospice at Havering being two of them.
He has raised £1000s and they appreciate all the private charity work he has done for them. I dont think it is fair to say he should donate part of his earnings to charity. Why the hell should he? it was his choice not to go for a 147 the same as its our choice not to donate to every single charity that blatantly asks us to donate and there are over 400.000 it is believed. It is this sort of thing that will eventually drive him out of the world of snooker.
