Title: Sharing a taxi/ lift down South on May 5 th
Post by: Karennina on April 09, 2016, 10:52:19 AM
I know this is going to be a ( very) long shot!
Are there any members who are landing at Gatwick on 5 th May in the early hours of morning who would like to share costs of a taxi or petrol to down South i.e Portsmouth, Petersfield, Waterlooville.
The first train is not until nearly 6 am and im not very keen to hang around the airport...
Iv looked at National Express and no joy with them.
Unless someone knows of another coach company or anything that does not cost loads, any info would be greatly appreciated   :)

The first train from Gatwick Airport to Portsmouth via Brighton is at 04:57. That's reduced your waiting time by an hour.    :)

Its ridiculous isnt it, which is why I usually stay at my daughters in London as I can get there anytime.
Most of the Dlm flights get into Gatwick too late for me to go to Portsmouth.
I've managed to book a tcx landing at 5.30pm but keep expecting an email saying it's cancelled.
Or watch it get delayed...
Sadly when my sons left from here he ends up waiting for that first train :(

Thsnks KKOB for the train info i had seen that one im pretty sure without rechecking its still a 2 pr 3 hour wait at Brighton..
Im thinking of changing to Thomas Cook Linda they have a flight the day before for £30 with a far better landing time, think this one lands at 5.30, im feeling very like you a bit dubious bout booking with them in case they cancel it!

It's a 20 minute wait at Brighton. Gets you into Portsmouth at 07:12 I wouldn't have suggested it if it was 2 or 3 hours !

I think I'd prefer the Gatwick Airport Premier Inn (really close to the terminal) to hanging around waiting for a train Karen - £56 for the night of the 5th.

Thanks very much everyone for all suggestions, im sorted found a flight with Monarch for £34 lands at 3.15 pm so loads of train choices...
Bit naughty though that both TC and Monarch had the priice of flight displayed when i put my date as a return, when i switched it round to being one way the price went up with both airlines  TC by £10 and Monarch by think it was £6!
