I'm no fan of heights but I think I would regret not doing this when it finally opens.
Thanks for posting Cenk

Wow....
-
Thanks Cenk
That looks fantastic...I travelled on a similar cable car ride in Hong Kong last October to the village of Ngong Ping it was amazing and a very popular attraction with the tourists so I can only imagine that It will be just as popular for Fethiye…….any news as to when it may open?

Great video ,shows the area really well. The Skywalk should be a great asset. We were up ther for drinks in September and they seemed to be making great progress,The Turkish do not mess about when it comes to building. If this was UK it would be 3 year discussions,3 yr co saltation,3 year planning applications,3 year to build and 300% over budget by the time it was finished. Then it would be beset with problems for the next 3 years and forgotten about 3 years later when major repairs would be needed etc
-
What UK project was forgotten about three years later when repairs were needed?
-
Just a hypothetical observation on the differences between projects in Turkey and UK not a literal one Keith
-
The UK has Health and Safety Regulations and Great Crested Newts to consider.

Yep. 137 workers killed at work in UK last year; 2,006 killed in Turkey. UK has the larger workforce. Don't know about crested newts.

Off topic, I know, but...... a friend has just returned from a holiday village in Holland. His holiday bungalow caught fire because of an electrical fault. Not so unusual, but, none of the bungalows had or were required to have smoke/fire alarms. Why not? Are we the only ones to be slaves to EU rules? How lucky they were, they were playing cards and half the lights went off. My friend went to investigate and found the meter in the hall smoking, their only exit. Half an hour later, the children would have all be in bed and the adults in the sauna! My blood runs cold at the thought! So many of us used to berate the EU and it’s rules. It appears that we are one of the few that followed them, thank goodness!!!

Do property owners need regulations to fit safety equipment? Isn't the risk of your holiday chalet burning to the ground enough?!!
-
Not just newts.....bats, dormice, freshwater pearl mussels et al - as well as certain plants and trees.
Loads of surveys on flora and fauna before a spade hits the soil. Many years work for some specialist surveyors.
All that before elf n safety are even considered.

You would have thought so, but it was a rented holiday bungalow and none on th3 site had or indeed needed to have fire alarms fitted. My point is that we have to and we are under the same laws!

Terrified of heights but am going to Skywalk. Wish I had the nerve for a parachute jump...so skywalking it is ! I am sure I will open my eyes after first few mins.....Doing the balloon over Cappadocia in a few weeks. Eeeek.
-
The cost for the Skywalk is 5tl to go up and 80tl to come back down.
-
So why is it called "Sky Walk" ?
I can imaginne Sky Ride, but to me a Sky Walk is one of those glass walkways over a precipitous drop like the one in Grand canyon or that recent bridge in China.
Maybe theres a treadmill in each car that droves the system ;)

It looks like there are both pods and chairs. Confused me to start with, but on closer inspection it looks like the pods go up to probably 1,700m and then the chairs go from 1,700m to 1,900m. Is that the plan?
Does anyone know exactly where the base station is in Olu Deniz?
-
I think the base station will be close the The Montana Pine Resort, Ovacik.
-
According to this it will go from Oludeniz beach http://skywalkfethiye.com/en/skywalk
-
According to the piece in The Fethiye Times this week, the base station will be at Yasdam Street, Ovacik. I'm pretty sure that's the road leading from the top of the hill on the Oludeniz road to The Montana Pine Resort, the start of The Lycian Way. Only time will tell. :)
-
Yeah that's right KKOB - We walked the whole road from Hisaronou to way beyond the Garcia hotel today (until the road turned into a stony track) but there was no sign of Skywalk construction (even looking up the mountain) - Who knows (maybe it's like the moon landing hoax stories ?)
-
The project which is planned to add a new momentum to tourism in Fethiye will extend from Ovacık in Fethiye to the summit of Babadağ.

There's probably an element of confusion because people assume that 'Ölüdeniz' means the beach, when it means the area covered by Ölüdeniz Belediyesi, which covers Ovacik, Hisaronu and Belcekiz Beach.
-
That’s what confused me KKOB

;)

Footage of the testing of prototype designs for the cabins has been released. ;)
