Just an observation, but quite a contrast at the minute. This thread and the one immediately below it (You meet the nicest people)

Totally agree Laffa. Maybe we are guilty of a "rose coloured glass" attitude to Calis. It's no different from anywhere else. There's good and bad everywhere. We are fortunate indeed if we only come across the good.

i have had no problems myself i go most places in a taxi but i have heard of these incidents and unfortunatly until they are reported to the police after each incident they will continue to happen as the people involved think they can get away with it on unsuspecting visitors

You are quite right Highlander.  I am guilty of wearing those rose tinted glasses.  Each time I read of an incident like this or a break in, I find myself thinking 'oh no not in Calis that can't happen'. Of course you are right - good and bad everywhere.  I can't help seeing Calis as 'that special place where nothing bad happens'.  I suppose because we have been lucky, so far (will probably regret saying that now!), and every time we have come out to Calis have had the most superb time.  When you stop to think about what others have experienced it is quite a wake up call.

Kaytee, please be careful, especially around the areas described earlier (near the aqua park/Gunlukbasi area).  Just get taxis/the dolmus home at the end of the night so that you are safe.

But, most importantly, have a GREAT time.  Its a fabulous country that we all love, otherwise we wouldn't be on the forum in the first place.  The weather's looking good for the weekend ............... enjoy!

LOL Laffa!  We did have some good weather tho!  My daughters have quite good tans, but they were prepared to lie out by the dirty pool that is not yet being maintained from first thing in the morning, whereas I (being older, and wiser!) stayed on the shaded balcony which got sunny about 4pm!
