Access to my money
« on: May 01, 2008, 20:53:04 PM »
I am planning to sell my house in England and with the proceeds come and live in Turkey, along with my wife and daughter.

I am arriving in the hope to pay cash for my Villa, but before this I want to open a bank account drawing on my interest per month.

With this in mind I will be in a position whereby I will probably stay with friends, or rent a place for a while, until we find our new home.

If I stay with friends, how can I open an account with no fixed abode and gain access to my money?

Hope someone can help me?

Regards

Joe  :)

There are several options Joe (I'm answering because I feel bad about deleting your last question  ;) ) - you can use a UK address or get a rental contract or even your friend's address. Not really an issue in fact, they want your money  :)

With that kind of answer I certainly forgive you for deleting my previous question.

Thanks Scunner

No problem, use your friends address.
Much easier than UK, they dont ask for utility bills etc.
You will need your passport and tax number, some banks will get your tax no for you otherwise you will need a trip to tax office.

You'll need to apply for one there Joe, but it's an easy enough procedure

Re HSBC, if you have a premier account with them, then transfer to Turkey from your UK account to HSBC here is free of charge. However, I couldn't open the branch account here when I was in the UK - not allowed - so opened the account when I arrived here. Finansbank is also excellent and will apply for your Turkish tax number for you. They charge 0.1% of the incoming funds if you choose to pay their fees at this end. Cathy
