Laffa,  as much as we'd love to meet you, I suggest you stay away from Uzumlu !   We got some nasty little wotsits up there !  My daughter was walking in the Olive grove right next to our house and almost trod on a Viper - evil looking little B*gger that was.  Needless to say, she hasn't been in the olive groves since.  Always see a lot of black ones squashed on the road too !   Seen a few scorpions around the pool too......makes you wonder why I love the place so much really....[xx(]:( :)

hi Wingnut

The funny little bridge is very close to where we have an apartment.  Were the snakes still in the water, or were they wriggling along the grass?  I will make sure we wear heavy footwear if they appear on dry land!

hi Wingnut, as far as I know there are three types on snakes indigenous to the area, the brown and cream/yellow one is a viper and is venomous (straight to hospital)  It has a sort of 'flat' head.  There is also a black (on top)and white/cream belly, not sure about this one but the local farmers do kill it.  There is also a pure dark grey/black one which, I believe, is a rat snake.  Can't do you much harm but I would still avoid .  Hope this helps

Oooh, I don't like this thread very much - I hate snakes.  And frogs.  And even worms!  Hope I don't see any - I'll be the one wearing wellies from now on, just in case!!!
