I got bitten last year in Turkey by what I assumed were mozzies. When I showed the bites to a Turkish friend he assured me they were in fact mostly flea bites.Mozzies are not just the only ones you can get bitten by but most like I did thought they were mozzies bites. My Turkish friend told me that you will often get bitten by the fleas that the many stray dogs carry.

Works for me George! At least I don't get bitten if I take it  so I'll stick with it I think :)

I was told that you just put an opened jar of marmite on the table by you to keep the mozzies away.  I didn't know that you had to actually eat the disgusting stuff.  Good job I found out as I'd look a plonker carrying a jar of marmite around with me and putting it on tables in bars, restaurants etc.   :-\

I'd rather be bitten than eat marmite.

I hate marmite too!  But used the green avon stuff that Crabbs recommended whilst we were in Calis - worked a treat!  Trouble is, on leaving our apartment, at 2 in the morning, forgot to put it on - got eaten alive at Dalaman airport!  Be warned!  Julie

Yes the airport can be bad for mossies. Remember - be careful out there!

Yes, I've got some of that green Avon stuff.

As well as being at the airport, the little blighters also seem to get on the plane as I usually get bitten.  Goodness only knows why they would want to go to Manchester when they could stay in Turkey in the sun.

I got bitten so badly at the airport, I've had a swollen foot for two days!  I had been so careful whilst we'd been away too.  Can't believe I didn't put the "stuff" on before we left for the airport (something to do with being out on the razz till minutes before our airport transfer turned up, I think!)
