Apologies everyone as I am sure this question has been asked before but can not find it.
Am I right in thinking that your passport has to have six months left on it  after you have had a trip to Turkey?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

It has to be valid for 6 months on entry to Turkey.

Forgive me KKOB, but I thought it was 6 months AFTER you leave.

Sorry KKOB you were of course correct and I was in muppet mode. Foreign Office states on Passport validity:

Your passport should be valid for at least six months on entry into Turkey and have at least three months' validity on the date you are exiting Turkey.  If you hold a Travel Document it must be valid for at least one year on entry into Turkey.

Thank you so much for all your replies. I am really excited as I have finally persuaded my son to come to Turkey in August, he wants to bring a friend so I now need to check his friend's passport details.

Me and my son Mitch went to Calis last April, and noticed while we were on the train to the airport that his passport ran out in the middle of June, nobody said anything to him about it, but when we got back to England he had to renew it straight away as we were moving to Calis at the end of May, we would have renewed it before April if we had realised, but after saying that, we wouldn't try it again and i wouldn't advise anyone to try it either. No I wont risk it, if his friend's passport is not valid I will get him to renew it before we go.
I hope you are still on the mend Alan.
