Skype Mobile WiFi
« on: August 29, 2008, 21:21:54 PM »
Any one tried this?

Any WiFi enabled mobile (I have a Nokia N95)

Some software call Fring that lets you make skype calls from your mobile

Have a beer in one of the bars that have free WiFi access

make your free skype call to any other skype user anywhere in the world.

Don't know if it will work yet, but it sounds ok, unless anyone else know otherwise[?]

It works  :)

Quite a delay on it when I've used it though.

Don't know if or how it works, but it baffled me a bit, in the top right corner it says order as many as you like for the same delivery charge of £4-95, but under the advert it says a maximum of 2 per custome!!! Alan

Yes I did notice that Faux Paux Alan.

I currently have a USB Skype phone, it is ok has a long lead but very limited use, I purchased this in Fethiye 2 years ago so it is definitely dated.

The phone on the Woolworths advert I think is also dated (not sure) I think I have seen a new one somewhere but now cant find it.

The Skype phones offer call forwarding from a UK phone to my Turkish landline at 12p per minute, ok it is more than the Turk Tel rates but it is the convenience of the UK telephone number.

I am using it.
As Keith said , some delays happen but it can be ignored as it is free !!!
You can use it to connect msn and others also.

I'm slghtly disgusted that my brother 'Big Doug' did not think to ask the question to his techie brother (me!) ;o)

I've used Fring on my ipod touch and it worked great in Turkey
