For a really great After Dinner treat, try a glass of this very fine "Port Style" wine.
Kavaklidere Tatli Sert is a fortified red wine produced from the indigenous grape Öküzgözü grown in Elazig (Eastern Anatolia) by the method "Port"; and with this method it is unique in Turkey. It is a blend of different vintages aged in French oak barrels and this contributes to its rich and elegant aromas and flavours.
Perfectly matches with tiramisu, bitter chocolate, coffee, cigars and soufflé. It is recommended to be served at 17°C.
Grape: Öküzgözü
Colour: Deep garnet with brick tints
Aroma: Resin, dried fruits, caramel
Flavour: Complex flavours, well balanced, concentrated, long
Matured in French oak barrels.
There is also a "Sherry" type white version of Kavaklidere Tatli Sert. Produced by the sherry Solera Method. I think it knocks the socks off Bristol Cream!
WARNING:- I guess it will be very expensive in a Restaurant, as it seems to retail at about 40 odd lira a bottle! It retails in the United Kingdom at £14.99. Fortunately I happened by chance to discover a local wholesaler and saved myself a good few Lira.
