Kettle Elements and limescale
« on: June 30, 2011, 09:14:03 AM »
Heres a tip to clean out the kettle from limescale.
We all use them and after a while the elements and the insides get clogged with limescale, which eventually will cause the kettle to take longer to boil and possibly rot the element.

Take the juice of 1 orange and 2 lemons and put in kettle - use more lemon juice if you need it to just cover the element. leave for a couple of hours - overnight better. Then rinse out with fresh water and presto - sparkley clean kettle! :)

You can also use the cheapest lemonade you can find, cover the element, or fill it as much as you like, boil it up then leave it to cool. Hey presto! Good as new.

The wife uses either vinegar or lemon juice.Use about 100 ml and then cover the element with water and boil. Then fill the kettle up and re-boil.Leave for an hour or 2 and then rinse well.Simples ;)
