Hard Water & Appliances
« on: September 30, 2015, 12:54:48 PM »
Hi all,

being from "Up North" in the UK, we don't have to worry much about hard water and lime scale etc, but in Calis its a different story.

We've figured out how to de-scale the kettle with vinegar etc, but how do you make sure the dishwasher and washing machine are not about to croak on blocked arteries.

In the UK, I think you can buy dishwasher salt in most supermarkets but never seen it in Turkey.

Thanks

Ian

We use a substance called Calgon, a scoop in washing machine and dishwasher, it is available in the supermarkets.

With regard to dishwasher salt look for Finish Ozel Toz, it'll be there alongside the dishwasher tabs.

We've never had a problem buying dishwasher salt in the supermarkets in Fethiye. Every so often we also used to run the dishwasher empty with a cup of Por Coz in it.

Be careful with the Por Coz. It's highly toxic.

We used Por Coz on our veranda tiles. Strong stuff even watered down.
