Colwyn - I think you meant 86 did you not.
Sadly SKY NEWS now advising 86 dead and 186 injured...awful to hear!

It's a cultural difference - you find it disgusting, they don't.  You only have to watch the news in Turkey to see that what would be unacceptable on the BBC for example, is perfectly fine for broadcast in Turkey.  Its the same in many countries, it doesn't make them bad people.

In some respects, they're not that different to any other media observer - they're capturing a moment in time, just with a phone as opposed to a Sony HD news camera.

"....is perfectly fine for broadcast in Turkey."

It may be a culture difference right enough, JohnF.

I was quite shocked by some of the pictures posted on facebook by Turkish people - they were horrific. :(

With the numbers of injured it is almost certain that the number killed will increase in the coming days.

Simply horrendous :( :( :( :

One curious statistic, that I believe relates to both tragedies (Suruç as well), is that there have been no reports of Polis or other security personnel injured.  Given that there is always a heavy Polis presence at any demonstration or gathering, it surely must be a large slice of good fortune that allowed these stalwart protectors of the people to emerge unscathed while young men and women, children and the elderly were blown to phucking bits while demonstrating for peace.
