Art? Or bad taste?
« on: February 01, 2016, 16:44:13 PM »
Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei has recreated the image of drowned Syrian toddler Alan Kurdi that provoked fierce debate last year about the plight of refugees.

Is this art...  or is all a bit strange and possibly in bad taste?

I don't think I'll ever understand "art".

Me too, KKOB. But whatever it's supposed to be, I don't think this is it. Not for me,   :(

Just looked it up.....

"art is something created by an artist" apparently.

There is very little that was/is more powerful than the original image.

This is NOT art and whoever produced it should be ashamed

I'd categorise this as political art, so that gives people two opportunities to either love or hate it ... either from an artistic or a political perspective.

Though i have sympathy and regrets for the kids/toddlers caught up in this ongoing mess.Would not call this art, looks more like a photo of a drunk guy lying on the beach

It is art. It is also strange. It may, or may not, be to your taste.
