info from those who have made the big move

There have been a lot of postings on this site about kerb crawlers, dodgy men etc and I am pretty certain they are there, but I'd like to echo Elsa's experience. Last summer our youngest daughter who was 17 at the time got on the wrong bus from Fethiye and ended up in a village. As usual she had no credit on her phone so couldn't contact us. It didn't help that her battery was also dead so we couldn't ring her either!! The bus driver took her back to Fethiye where all the drivers there made a big fuss of her because she was obviously upset, gave her cups of tea and put her on the right bus. None of them would take any payment from her, and the driver who dropped her off sat and waited till she was at our door, and for the rest of the holiday made a big fuss of her if she used his dolmus and again would not accept payment from her for her journeys. I really could not have seen that happening here.

These last two stories show the real Turkey that many of us have experienced to some degree or other. Do not be put off by the odd incident that the uk press would sensationalise to the exclusion of all that is good around us. :)

Hi, I'm new to this forum so just finding my way around.  We bought an apartment last year and just use for holidays but hope to move out soon.  I will still be early fifties and was wondering what the job prosepcts are like - don't see myself doing nothing - any ideas???

Hi Liz
Welcome to the forum.
It's very difficult to work in Turkey.  You need a permit which are hard to come by, are not allowed to do a job that a Turk can do, and that's only the begining.
Use the search facility at the top of the page for loads more info
Happy reading
Anne

Hi Liz and a warm welcome to the Forum. Don't be tempted to try and work without the right paperwork......you might get away with it but you could also be on the next plane back to the uk! :)

Hi Liz and welcome to the CB Forum. Why not stick a few lines in the members intro section and you will be inundated with greetings. :D
