In fairness I can't think of a quicker or more conclusive way of testing for gas leaks :D

When we had our new kitchen fitted one of the lads(Ali) tested ours with a match. Mike showed him how to do it with fairy liquid. He just laughed

That was a bit lower down than the 11th floor Jacqui.
I like the guys description as a " technician ". God only knows what the outcome would have been if he had been unskilled. ?
