There was a great turn out for the Calış Children's Charity New Year's Day splash , with 9 people braving the sea to raise money for charity. Spectators came to see the brave splashers don their fancy dress and cheered them on for the 5 minutes that they had to stay in the water.
TC Gareth Patten raised a huge 2,000 lira in sponsorship for the 3C's children's charity. Desree Sarioglu who was a rather fetching pirate, also raised sponsorship for 3C's to the grand total of 1,200 tl. A further 484 lira was raised from generous donations. .
All this money will go to help the needy children from this area and with the event being covered by Anadolu Ajansı for the national TV, it will help raise awareness of what we are achieving with the help of all of our supporters.
Bambu restaurant hosted the event, and patrons were asked who they thought wore the best fancy dress. The winner who received the bottle of wine was the bride, worn by Gareth Patten.
