As a keen but not very green fingered gardener, I want to plant some fruit trees in our garden and just wondered if anyone can tell me what grows best in Uzumlu.
I think I remember reading that Lemons don't grow so well.
Also any advise on flowering evergreen shrubs would be usefull.
Any advise would be appreciated.

Something you need to be aware of, especially in the mountain villages like Uzumlu, is that you need to think about protecting fruit trees and shrubs from the very heavy frosts in winter. Before the frosts begin many people wrap their fruit trees and shrubs in cardboard and/or bubblewrap and bring potted plants onto terraces to protect them.

We have Peach, apricot, cherry, lemon, apple and plum trees growing well in our garden. Last winter the lemon tree was the only one which suffered with the cold winter, but that is recovering now.

Many thanks for the advise, I will bear that in mind.

We have lemon, orange, mandarin, peach and fig trees and also a kafir lime tree, all have been fine, we've had so much fruit this year, the only one we covered up through the winter was the lime tree.

We have a mulberry tree that has lots of berries every year.

But not in Uzumlu I'm thinking. :)

We live in Uzumlu and we have 2 mulberry trees. The past 5 years they have produced kilo after kilo of fruit.

Thanks Eric,
Good job I had one put in then ! Although until I googled it I wasn't sure what it was.
Hope things have quietened down now and you can relax in the garden.
Take care
