Title: Not Hisaronu's Greatest Legacy
Post by: Scunner on May 19, 2012, 01:02:41 AM
Once upon a time, someone thought these two

...would be just fine living here...

Looking back, isn't that just beyond comprehension..?

However the baddies were beat and they moved to a new home until they grew strong.(http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p278/heathermac_02/002.jpg)

They were helped by the goodies and once they were strong they moved to their new home(http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p278/heathermac_02/057.jpg)

And  they will live happily ever after

When I drove past last week I was saddened to see both the hell pool and Nadia's Irish bar are derelict:D

Nadia's bar is open but I do not think it is her running it.  However I saw a woman in there but I would not know Nadia by sight.
Certainly is not advertised as Nadia's.

The dolphins are far happier where they are now, thanks to the concern of many, including this forum. However I fail to see the purpose of this thread. It appears to be another case of unnecessary negativity concerning Hisaronu.

It was in Hisaronu. With Tom & Misha now released the topic reflects on the ludicrous idea in the first place. I would have posted the same if the pool had been in Calis - why are some Hisaronu people so paranoid?

But whats the purpose of the thread?

To remember what level of cruelty people were prepared to go to, in their quest for personal financial gain. I'll post what I like thanks Tony.

If it makes one person aware of the lousy conditions these creatures were kept and perhaps puts them off paying to swim with dolphins , then thats  worth posting.

It makes total sense to remind people what they had to endure and just how far they have come, particularly when you go to the the Animal aid section and see people are already trying to b****Y well jepodarise the boys release.
I can not believe someone has tried to capture Tom after all the incredible hard work that has been done by so many people, thank goodness for the tags they have on them.
Good on Nichola for updating us and likke she said if anyone see's them do not feed them and do not interact with them.
I am just gobsmacked:(

Oh, another reason for posting it - to ask, does anyone know if it is still there? You would have hoped that it isn't, and prefer to think that this shameful monument to cruelty was smashed to pieces and consigned to history. But knowing the area, I bet it will be an eyesore and reminder there for years.

I looked at the photos and felt sick, watched the video and thought My God get away Tom, please get away. We always have to be reminded, we always have to be on our guard and we can never get complacent and forget.

Just back Keith and that blot on the landscape is still there.  With all the rain there is a foot or so of stagnant dirty water.  I am sure the mossies can make good use of it.[:(!]

You'd think those who paid for it to be built (badly) would be desperate to rid the resort of any evidence that they ever did it at all.

For the record, I am not anti-Hisaronu at all. I prefer Calis but have had good times up the hill over the years. I also enjoy the friendly rivalry and banter on the forum and find it amazing that some people don't get it at all.

Perhaps we draw tourists there and sell it as a battlefield site

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of folk I speak to that did not know what happened and why that ditch is there.
The amount of Turkish people I spoke to who saw it as finished when the dolphins went and did not know they were in a pen being rehabilitated.  Or did not care??? No longer in their backyard..:(
But would you buy a villa of that builder.  The path round it has dropped about two feet.

I would just like to add that Nadia's is open but under totally new management, I've not been in, and not trying to advertise it, but would hate so see a new business suffer because of the old attitudes. Its called Flairs by the way.

What was allowed to happen must not be forgotten and if the message eventually gets through to those prepared & willing to exploit ignorance and naivete then any amount of posting on the subject will be worthwhile.

Keith, spot on.

It is amazing the number of people - even those owning properties in Hisaronu - who never knew about it! Totally amazing, they must be so blinkered. The atrocity should never be forgotten but how the council see fit to leave this eyesore as a tribute to their greed, cruelty and ignorance is beyond me. You would think they'd want to get rid of the evidence and restore the land to the childrens playground that it should always have remained!!

Agreed Hillside.  I had one conversation where a Turkish man said they have dolphins in Marmaris so why not here.  He knew the dolphins were ill before they were moved.  Yet his attitude it was why did that happen here and not there instead of the whole damn thing is wrong.
Most folk it is out of sight out of mind.
So sad because we need Turkish people to stop it happening in their country

and yet it is continuing,  in marmaris and in Kas.....when will the Turkish government wake up and do something about it ??  It is SO damaging their reputation and credibility.  Money has so much to answer for in this world, and yet used correctly it could do so much good....:(

By the way, if you do all still feel so strongly,  help the fight for Marmaris / Kas dolphins; Start campaigning with the same passion that we fought for Misha and Tom and it might just work.....(groups are alive and kicking on FB, and would welcome your support, emailing, phoning, campaigning etc....any help appreciated).

Good on you Pookie.:D  There are things going on that we do not have full access to yet but we have to try to keep the pages going as best we can.  It is a different fight and will probably go on much longer but it would be good to have you all on board.
