Title: EasyJet pilots vote to strike
Post by: JohnF on September 22, 2016, 10:31:10 AM
As it says on the tin.

96% of 2,000 EasyJet pilots voted yesterday to take strike action over various rostering issues.

However, their union says they haven't actually planned any strike days yet as they are waiting on a response from EasyJet.

If you're booked with them over the next month or so it might be worth keeping an eye on what happens...

From what I've read, any industrial action is likely to be next month.  Hopefully both sides will get round the table and sort something out.

No, the newspaper you read said they were looking at half term.  BALPA (their union) have said no strike dates have been planned as they hope to resolve the issue without industrial action.

86% of Easyjet pilots voted and, of these, 96% voted for strike action. How soon before some Tory git invents an ingenious way of saying that the vote was "undemocratic" and that a strike would be "completely unnecessary", "unjustified" and a "disgrace"? Tories fully support the right to strike. They just oppose any occurrence of anybody exercising this right. And they have the support of 39% of the 66% of the UK electorate that voted. That gives Tories a mighty 25.7% of the electorate against the pilots' feeble 82.6% of pilots. Democracy eh?

It wouldn't be the first time on the tarmac, not by a long way. First time on a runway though.
