Stoney Ground at Dalaman
« on: September 23, 2009, 21:04:16 PM »
At the second (gate) security check at Dalaman I was summonsed to speak to some miserable git who had a rummage in my hand luggage and produced a red stone about 3" x 3" which my daughter found on the beach around 2 years ago. It is in an almost perfect heart shape and she loved it. We weren't travelling too heavy this time so decided to bring it back as a surprise.

"Passport" said the git, holding his hand out. I gave him my passport and he added my name to their list, together with passport number. He looked up, held the stone out and said "problem", and chucked it in the bin.

Turkey, where true romance never starts :-\

No reason whatsoever. Just "problem". Well as it isn't "antik" or precious, I can only guess that a 3"x3" stone could be used as a weapon, I could take over the plane with a heart shaped implement.

The large bottle of water in the same bag, still frozen pretty much as it came out of the freezer as we left for the airport would allow a far greater swing and possibly inflict far greater injuries, but that was not a "problem".

Yet another example of Turkish Officials (Dalaman Airport) endearing themselves to 'tourists' (as you are now Kieth :D)and ensuring that they return to Turkey....NOT:-\: :)

They are not so clever at Dalaman.
I was at the departure gate behind a young couple with a buggy.  Security guy was checking buggy and found a bottle of wine and a bottle of sun lotion in the bag below buggy.
How did it get that far when they have security as you enter airport?

They are a miserable bunch of gits, especially at the gate,I have noticed it many times,in particular when I was over in June, he was really shouting at people to hurry and trying his best to be as awkward as possible.......it comes naturally to the airport staff most of the time.

Shame about the stone Scunner...
