Seki Temel School
« on: February 09, 2011, 14:07:30 PM »
Last November some members of the Calis Children's Charity and their associated Calis charity Embrace visited Temel village school, a poor outlying Fethiye school located several kilometers from  Eren Dag mountain and the new Seki ski centre.

The 3 room school which has 25 children aged between 5 and 7  approached the Children's Charity with a request for help in providing much needed equipment, educational toys and furniture of which they had very little.

After seeing the school and meeting the children and staff  both charities decided to join together in a joint project to provide assistance to the school. Last week we took delivery of over 4,500 TL (£1,800)  worth of equipment including  classroom and garden furniture, playground equipment, a Wendy house, lots of educational toys and puzzles, writing materials, books and other much needed items.  All of these items together with a donated television will be delivered to the school next week as soon as the school reopens following the holiday.

Seki Temel School is one of nine projects being funded by the 3C's charity  from the proceeds raised during our 2010 fundraising year.  This is in addition to providing 10 bursaries to help 10 poor students to attend university which we have been committed to providing for the last 3 years.

None of this help could be provided without your generosity and support and we thank you for this.

Further pictures of the school will be published following our visit to take the equipment next week.

This is entirely the sort of project that shows what the hard work of a few can do to change the everyday lives of many - without spending millions of pounds  :)

Well done guys. Terrific stuff!

Last week some members of the 3C's and Embrace returned to the school to deliver the goods that we had purchased for them.

The excited children rushed out to meet them when they arrived and watched wide-eyed in anticipation as playground equipment and a big plastic Wendy house was unloaded from the back of the lorry.

This was soon followed by comfy classroom sofas, outside tables and chairs, classroom whiteboards  and a puzzle cupboard containing 20 wooden puzzles.  Smaller items included 10 hand puppets, dolls, musical instruments, building blocks, play dough, other educational toys as well as reams of paper and other writing and drawing materials. The school will also be receiving a delivery of books from us shortly.

Within minutes of unloading the equipment,  the children were seated on their sofas playing with their new puppets.

They then gave an impromptu performance of dancing and singing to thank everyone before waving them goodbye.

A lovely day, lovely children and fantastic scenery!

We are delighted that our two charities have been able to help the school and we hope that we will be able to work together with Embrace on future projects.

Both the ‘3C's' and ‘Embrace' would like to thank everybody who have donated to, or supported our charities in any way, and we hope that people will continue to support our fundraising activities, so that future  projects can take place. We could not do any of this without your help
