Does anyone know of a satellite package with English tv (not digiturk) in Calis area that does not require system to be connected to internet.I have contacted echostar but seems his satellite systems need connecting via internet.
-
Go and have a word with Karen at Karen's Kard's in Gunlukbasi. She was telling me about a system set up by the electronik shop next door for about 500TL installed including dishes. I don't have any more info but it may be worth investigating. :)
-
Thanks Brian
-
very good system uses nilesat you have two dishes and a box you can get upto 76 channels in english loads of sport from the uk and sky news plus films although some have an Arabic text on the screen bit of a pain, as brian says go and see Karen the shop next door has a set up working so you can see before you buy well worth it.
costs whole package 5oo ytl fully installed plus 150 ytl per year fixed price for three years.
hope this helps

Most satelite shops sell this type of system, but not with an ongoing charge. Try Star Electronics 500TL installed.
-
Can you get Coronation Street or Emmerdale? What channels are available? or is it on a par with BBC Prime?
-
Tel where is Star Electronics & do you know what you get in the package please.
-
Main rd into Fethiye, past Migros on your right, carry on down and it is on the right also, in the last batch of shops just before the Tuesday market and traffic lights. Decoder box and X-box mini decoder box.As mentioned earlier posting above;two nilesat dishes, one is offset and the X-box decodes from it as well as the first decoder box on the normal nilesat satelite.Check out all options ie Karens cards neighbouring electronics shop also and hey presto
-

Thanks to all for the info.Much appreciated.Lance I know you said you get corrie and emerdale....daft question but does this mean you get ITV1?
-
Thanks Lance
-
Just been to the shop at Caterlick he is quoting 550tl,no ITV so how do you get Corrie and Emerdale?.and he said after a year you have another payment maybe 150tl of 200tl.
-
There seems to be a big discrepancy as to the set up charges and ongoing charges. Some appear to charge for an ongoing service and some it's a one off fee.Strange.
Also good question about if there is no ITV how come you can get Corry etc.
-
go and see karen at the card shop the shop next door has a system up and running so that you can see what you are buying before you hand over the cash.
goto www.kingofstat.net you can see all the channels on this package from atlantic bird, nilestat 101 and 102 don't select just english as you will not see the full channels the sat's will give you, some will list in arabic but you can change the service to english speaking on many stations, the guys in the shop will show you this.
for corrie etc, the service comes from the star network in india and it will list this as a granda tv,
hope this info help's

From Calis take the calis plaji bulvari road go along this road and turn right at the traffic lights onto the Gunlukbasi main road towards fethiye, and Karen shop is on the right hand side opposite the 'SOK' supermarket.

Thanks Gunna.:D

Hi Guys
From reading most of the letters , It seems to me that the best system with the least "Ongong" hassel is a Very LARGE dish plus Free view box Ex UK or a similar one that get signals from 28 deg .
To most of us a Free box , or **y is no problem
BUT does anyone have any practical experience and actually know's what size dish is required here in Fethiye area.
Then of course does anyone know where to get the Dish and at what cost ?
One dish available in UK that comes in 6 pieces is sold by Maplin its 2.4 mts and costs £190 ( also 1,85mts at £100 ) , but has anyone practical experience with these dishes , assuming size will get a signal ?

Hi Graham
The maplin dishes you mentioned are cheap Chinese dishes these are called petal dishes they are warped the metal is to thin it needs to be reinforced and the dish surface should be as smooth as a peach as when you put the dish together and one side is raised the signal is sent of in a different direction this means you lose gain as the signal is not sent to the lnb which should be set at the focal point hence if you put a dent in your dish it becomes inefficient one guy did import 1 it behaved very badly apparently and it cost him to get it through customs
Commercial dishes are normally spun to make the surface smooth and made out of aluminum just 1 mm out can make all the difference hence the prices of this type of dish or a pressed steel
You can get a 4 meter Fiber glass dishes but distorts when it heats up in the summer you are for every trying to align the things, again to thin
The best fixed dish is the spun aluminum 3 mtr commercial dish this is the starting size for BBC ITV2/3/4, ITV1 CH4/5 can be got on a lot smaller dish but this size dish would have to be aligned on Astra 2d the rest of the astras would be down in gain as the focal point is on 2d and a dish of this size can see satellites a few seconds out and is also good for the equinox as the beam width is not so tight and does not have to be realigned, as a 4/5/6 metre dish the bigger the dish the tighter the beam width so therefore you would need to motorise them for the few seconds between the satellites at 28 deg.
I must just add do not be temped to buy a second hand one unless you have seen it working as I know so who did and it behaves like a 2.4mtr as it has been damaged slight distortion
Anyway I must be sending people to sleep here if you would like to know more email me throgh my profile

Any suggestions as to the best place I can purchase a 32in LCD television from in the Fethiye area?
Pete
-
For a "no name" try Migros or Carrefour. If you want a brand name I would suggest TeknoSa (next to the Otogar).
-
if you want good back up service use arclik, becko or vestel
-
Hi Echostar
I found you help ref maplin dish to be excellent , so I will not bother them
But that still leaves me with gettting TV in to my Apartment , so in that case do you ( or anyone ) know anywhere I can get a dish for use in Fethiye area
Meanwhile as its the 23rd , Merry Xmas to everyone

Has anyone bought a system from the shop next door to Karens Cards, and is having problems with it,ie picture freezing and then message saying Not running or scrambled.I bought this system from them just before Christmas,I asked if there were any problems with it as i live in Ovacik and was told no.We cannot watch anything all the way through without in freezing over 10 times in any half and hour. We have even had times when there has been nothing for over a day.The engineer there has been up on loads of occasions and is now saying it is not their problem it is a system problem, something about lighting striking In Istanbul or the weather. He has offered to upgrade it for a further 500tl after we paid 550tl not 2 months ago.
-
Hi Is anyone using this product? if so is it any good are there any pitfalls?
http://storesatellite.com/catalog/hd-sat-receiver-p-173.html
Would welcome any info.
-
that OpenBox receiver will only get you the same SKY channels as if you took a SKY box and pointed your dish to 28.2E (the SKY satellite).
the problem is that Turkey is well outside the intended satellite footprint, so the signals are very weak.
Imagine shining a torch on a wall, the UK would be in the brightest bit, Turkey would be at the fringe in the dull bit. So to collect enough signal, needs a big dish.
You can get some channels with a large dish (1.5cm) but not all by any means.
-
Karen no longer has the shop in Günlükbaşi.At this moment in time she is in UK and not very well.

Wow thats not big at all :)
-
1.5m should get all the shopping channels you don't want and none of the channels you do.
-
not according to echostar Scunner. I am def going for his tv package with a 1.5 dish which will apparently get me many decent channels
-
I was talking about Sky, not Echostar's TV package.
