-
Quelle suprise :D :D
-
Des, before "H" tells you off Fletcher is Scottish.
However, Rodwell is English.
-
Thanks Jacqui, wasnt sure, only 2 english then, sad state of football i think, would you agree.
-
And there is a Welsh team in the English Premier League!
-
And an English team in the Scottish league!
-
Money talks and I think if manu had as much as City seem to have then they would buy the best players as well.
Don't forget that they have 'bought' the league over the years as well. £30m+ for Ferdinand, Rooney wasn't cheap and there are many others (Berba is one) that cost them a lot of dosh. It's only the last couple of seasons that they have been unable to splash out for the really big players - 'cause they are so much in debt :) I don't think Young was a bargain bucket buy though was he?
-
12 Brits started for the Manchester game. That's quite a good percentage really.
-
Man u get thrashed at home by a much better team and we have to have an enquiry about money and nationalities:D, the Premier League has always been bought only now its on a bigger scale!
-
..and don't forget these top teams are competing in the Champions League against the likes of Barce and Real Madrid, their the people setting the pace.

Good point Des, if Manu had consistently brought through top class young players rather than pay top dollar for 'complete' players, including youngsters, in the 20 years or so since that crop of great young players came though.....

look through the record transfers, man u have had it as many times as anybody else, I have done on it so many times on here its boring now, as for beckham scholes giggs, thats history, wheres the new crop?

Chelsea are the third highest point scorers in the Premier League history behind man u and Arsenal, if any teams are to make the step up to compete with these two and they have the opportunity they have to spend big to catch up which they have done, my guess is Chelsea will not buy again this year but Man U may have to as will Arsenal.
Abramovich took over Chelsea in June 2003,who had already finished 3rd in the league, nearly eight and a half years ago Des, so it wasn't 'all at once'

There's no may about it, the Gooners will need to spend again in January for a couple of key positions if they are to sustain improvement that will win possible cup trophies and or a top four finish. As indeed if they get the chance they should be selling some of the underachieving, overpaid members of the squad.
Although I would very much doubt that we shall be looking to make the marque type signing in January, that sort of business is best done in the closed season, and definitely in the early part of the closed season.

yes thats quite correct Andy, then the season started in august, now chelsea hadnt won the title for 50 years, but went on to win the following two, wouldnt you agree that was down to our russian friend buying it, and thats the guy who started the decline of football for sport and turned it into money business.

or the man that broke the stranglehold on the premiership by the same two teams?
